Ballistic 2.0

Make 5 printouts and answer on the printouts.

1.  With no drag present show that the maximum range as a function of launch angle is 45o. Set the velocity magnitude to one and plot an array of trajectories at 5 degree increments. Highlight the 45o launch.

Explain why 40o and 50o have the same range.

2.  With no drag present show that the maximum height and range is proportional to

energy(square of initial velocity) by setting up an array of eight trajectories all

with the same initial angle(e.g. 45o) and equally spaced in energy. Measure the

heights and ranges with a ruler….and show that they are proportional.

3.  Repeat 2 with drag present. Show the height and range are not proportional with

specific measurements. Now explain why this would be the case.

4.  With friction set to 2 and the Velocity Magnitude set to 1.75 repeat #1 to show

that the maximum range angle is no longer 45o. Explain why this is the case.

5.  With decay set at 5, friction set at 2 and the angle at 45o plot an equal energy array

that fits nicely on the screen. Not too big not too small. Show by making measurements that the maximum height and range are not proportional to energy and that higher energies result in disproportionately larger ranger and elevations. Compare with #3
