Lucas Edelmanwas selected as the

2017 Outstanding Undergraduate Student in the Lutgert College of Business.

Lucas is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in PGA Golf Management with a minor in Entrepreneurship and is a recipient of the 2016 South Florida PGA Golf Management scholarship, the Northwestern Mutual/John Delaney Scholarship and the Frank and Ellen Daveler Entrepreneurship Fund Scholarship. His nominator described him as demonstrating “...an amazing level of dedication and commitment to being a top student, a budding entrepreneur in the international market, a top employee in the workplace, … and to serving his fellow students, the university, and the local community. With his upbeat can-do attitude, tireless work ethic, and entrepreneurial spirit, Luke is a role model for all students”

In 2013, Luke began working with the US Green Building Council as a volunteer team leader on a newly proposed LEED initiative. Over more than three years, Luke and his team developed a certification system for golf facilities that measures the environmental “friendliness” of the facility, including water usage, carbon footprints and habitat conservation. He has also volunteered countless hours for the US Building Green Council and the First Tee of Lee County.

Luke has worked as a Media Production and Operations Associate for PGA Magazine Publications and Marketing Group, an Assistant Golf Professional for Liberty National Golf Club and West Bay Club, and a Deal Sourcing Analyst for Tamiami Angel Funds. Most recently,he interned as the Marketing and Business Development Manager for the film project Tommy’s Honour, a major motion picture focusing on the founding family of golf, starring Sam Neill and Jason Connery. As an intern, Luke managed a team of marketing professionals and MBA interns from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He initiated grass roots marketing and public relations activities; researched and implemented social media marketing plans for the U.S.theatrical releasein April; and presented guerilla marketing plans to the executive producer and distribution company.

According to the Co-Executive Producer of Tommy’s Honour,Keith Bank, “I took a great leap of faith when I brought Luke into the fold, and I am very happy to have done so. It is not very often that someone of Luke’s age displays the combination of business acumen, unrelenting drive to get things done, macro level vision, team focus, and networking ability that he has shown to me.
