ORGANOGRAM

PURPOSE

The Head: Employer Relations will be responsible for strategic planning, development, management and leadership of employer related activities and services to the UCT community, corporates / SMMEs and civil society organisations. The Head: Employer Relations will serve as an ambassador internally and externally at UCT championing the world of work agenda of UCT students, graduates and alumni of UCT locally, nationally and internationally. The post holder will actively engage to seek and promote opportunities to students and graduates, market UCT students and alumni to current and prospective recruiters and develop employer relationships and recruitment tools for UCT Careers Service. The Head: Employer Relations will oversee the provision of internships and vacation work in a wide range of organisations and sectors. The post holder will oversee the organization of recruitment events, careers fairs, employer skills sessions, presentations, recruiter in residence sessions, and on-campus interviewing programmes; promoting these events at UCT and to recruiters. The Head: Employer Relations will be responsible for generating income via Employer Services and will proactively identify new revenue streams.
The post holder will report directly to the Director of Careers Service and work as an active member of UCT Careers Service management team with responsibility for Employer Relations in accordance with mission and strategic plan of UCT Careers Service and the University.

1)  Development of Employer Relations Strategy, Planning and Delivery / 20 / ·  Develop a range of appropriate strategies which enables employers to engage effectively with the Careers Service and students, and vice versa.
·  Prepare annual employer relations strategy to feed into CS annual operations plan
·  Manage current relationships and establish collaborative relationships with employers (public, private, government, non-for- profit and social enterprise sectors) to expand the number of job opportunities (part-time and full-time), vacation work and internships locally, nationally and internationally.
·  In collaboration with Careers Advisory team identify employers to contribute to curriculum delivery and workshop enhancement
·  Liaise with employer relations staff in other careers services locally, nationally and internationally to keep up with best practice, and implement new initiatives in the sector. / ·  Plans are developed and initiatives rolled out annually to attract new and maintain existing employers to visit and recruit UCT students
·  Existing recruiting relationships are strengthened, developed and enhanced

2) Delivery of Employer Relations Services / 20 / ·  Oversee and take overall responsibility for the smooth running of all employer led career events
·  Develop and manage the On-Campus Interviewing Programme, ensuring that the needs of employers and students are met
·  Lead on sector specific employer targeted events per faculty for students
·  Lead the team in securing employer information and adverts for the annual Careers Service Guide and provide direction / content to allow production of the annual UCT Bursary Guide & Employer Relations Newsletter
·  Market employer services to recruiters, encouraging them to book a variety of events and advertise vacancies using appropriate channels for their requirements
·  Lead on the innovation of employer participation in the creation and progression of skills based learning through employer led skills sessions to undergraduate and post graduate students to include feedback mechanisms in collaboration with the Careers Advisory Team
·  Actively work with Alumni, Post Graduate and International offices to cultivate and maintain targeted services and employment opportunities in these specialist areas
·  Regularly evaluate delivery, ensuring work meets the highest quality standards, aligned with UCT vision, and internationally recognized quality standards / ·  All Employer Relations activities are of a consistently high quality and are accessible and responsive to employer requirements
·  Annual planning and leadership of campus wide delivery of interventions to involve employers

3) Marketing and Communication / 10 / ·  Communicate directly with employers and professional bodies to ensure up-to-date knowledge of the graduate labour market and to promote the interests of UCT students and graduates
·  Engage with and influence potential recruiters to participate in various recruitment options at UCT
·  Oversee production of marketing material, policies, procedures and guidelines relating to all employer services.
·  Proactively communicate and promote / publicise the work of the Employer Relations team and UCT Careers Service to university community, employers and other stakeholders, including contributing to articles in publications and marketing material and content for the Careers Service website.
·  Diagnose and respond to a range of Employer Relations queries from employers, staff, students and other stakeholders.
·  Develop content for the Employer Relations pages of the Careers Service website and the CRM system.
·  Maintain an Employer Relations Social Media Presence in collaboration with the Careers Service Communications / New Media and IT Manager / ·  Communication strategies developed for marketing and development of Careers Service Employer relations activities

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications
·  A postgraduate qualification
·  5 years management experience in a University Careers Service in Graduate Recruitment OR equivalent experience in Graduate Recruitment / HR Management
·  Excellent organizational and planning skills, including proven large scale event management skills
·  Proven ability to be creative & innovative in work role
·  Experience in marketing and public relations
·  Exceptional communication, networking, negotiation and interpersonal skills in a collaborative multi- disciplinary environment
·  Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with University Management, staff and students across faculties
·  In-depth knowledge, experience and understanding of financial management, planning and budgets and fundraising
·  Proven understanding to utilize technology & incorporate / maximize the use of social media in the delivery of student/ employer programmes
·  Knowledge of database management and CRM systems and proven ability to use these to develop and manage customer relationships
