Salary: / Band 3 - $49,798.84 - $53,575.88 pa pro rata
Payment Details: / Salary is paid on a fortnightly basis into a nominated bank account by direct bank deposit.
Superannuation: / In addition to the above salary, Council will contribute 9.5% of salary to Vision Super or another complying superannuation fund as nominated by the employee if earnings are in excess of $450 per month. Please note all payments to Superannuation funds other than Vision Super will be made via a Superannuation Clearing House.
Qualifying Period: / This position will be subjected to a six (6) month qualifying period.
Annual Leave: / Four (4) weeks annual leave per annum (pro-rata)
Other Leave: / Other leave entitlements are listed in the Indigo Shire Council Enterprise Agreement 2012-14.
Reference, Police and Qualifications Check: / As part of the employment process all applicants will be required to submit a minimum of two referees, be prepared to undergo a National Police Check and provide evidence of qualifications.

POSITION OBJECTIVE/S

  • Assist in the day to day operations of the Beechworth Library
  • Deliver excellent customer service to library patrons and assist in providing a safe, welcoming and patron friendly environment for Beechworth Library patrons
  • Assist in the effective promotion of Indigo Shire Council library services
  • To provide support to the Library Branch Coordinator – Beechworth in the effective operation of the Beechworth Library

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

  • Maintain a clean and tidy library ensuring books are shelved correctly and accessible for customers
  • Respond to daily on-site requests for information
  • Assist library users to effectively search the Library catalogue, Internet and other electronic resources
  • Assist in collection maintenance
  • Provide appropriate administrative support to the Branch Coordinator, including covering circulation desk
  • Assist with story time or presenting story time
  • Assist in the day to day operations and general duties
  • Assist in the end processing of books and library items including training & supervision of volunteers
  • Assist the Branch Coordinator to implement programs & services to meet community need
  • Establish & maintain links & partnerships across the local community
  • Provide input into policy & planning for Indigo Library services
  • Monitor developments in library practice
  • Other work as directed required to meet Position Objectives
  • Administrative and other tasks as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Qualification in Library and Information Services or similar or relevant library experience
  • Experience in using in catalogue and database searching
  • Ability to communicate with a broad range of community members
  • Drivers licence

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Qualification in Library and Information Services or similar or relevant library experience and Information Services at or above Diploma level, or relevant library experience
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills in providing customer service to both internal and external clients
  • Ability to show initiative and work with minimum supervision
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and Library Management System
