  • Last meeting we approved grant funding of $1760 for speakers. The invoice was for 1765.94; an email vote by members approved the payment of additional $5.94 for the speakers.
  • We have $4004 to use for this year’s LIP recommendations which will be announced next meeting.
  1. SRC Report
  2. No report.

Administration Reports

  1. Principal
  2. Shared results of the Tell Them For Me survey
  • We were above the national levels for most items, but there is always room for improvement.
  • Grad Photos will be the week of February 13th with new times of 12 – 7 PM. Information will be shared this week.
  • Finals are being held this week.
  • There was an error in the reporting of the earned incentive if people were using Schoolhouse on a computer but not if using the App. The decision was made to keep the information as is for this semester and correct the error for next semester.
  • There will be a new policy next semester regarding spares – any students who have spares and want to stay at school for them will need to be either in the library or commons area only.
  1. Vice Principal
  2. Staff are working on registration forms and are looking for ways to engage kids differently
  • Forms will look different going forward and will include the price of each class so parents are aware of the cost up front and it won’t be a surprise when they go to pay their school fees.
  • Teachers have been asked to work on putting together two hour courses that are compatible: so far there is a Communication Media & English (Level 10 and possibly a Level 20), as well as a Native Studies & English class (either Level 20 or 30)
  • The deadline for submission is January 31 so there may be more classes available.
  • Credit completion is under way and students will have an opportunity to participate from Jan 27 – Feb 17 for their credit
  • The SCC provided $500 in 2016 towards a staff lunch the day of the 3 way conferences. The administration is wondering if we would like provide lunch again this year. Jason will confirm if we have any additional fundraising revenue owed to us. We will table this till next month’s meeting.
  • The Open House is Feb 15th and Debbi-Lynn is tentatively scheduled to give a short speech explaining the Community Council and inviting all parents to attend the meetings.

New Business

  1. Carnival Games – Lana heard back MacNeill School that they are interested in taking over these games. Lana to meet with their Vice-Principal to give historical information and officially hand over the items.
  1. Black Out Dance follow-up – we spent 65.23% more on supplies than revenue we made and have a lot of left over drinks. The snow cones were a huge hit with the students; it is recommended not to do popcorn again but perhaps the small snack size bags of potato chips instead. The kids have requested to host another dance on March 9 from 7-10:30 pm. If approved, it was also recommended to increase our float amount with additional loonies and toonies.
  1. Teacher Appreciation Breakfast – The cost in 2016 was approximately $290 for cinnamon buns, yogurt, cheese, fruit, juice and coffee. Lana Luzny recommended we do it again on January 26; Rhonda Dressler seconded and all in favor. Rhonda will purchase all items and deliver to the school on January 25 and Debbi-Lynn will be at the school on January 26 to set up and welcome teachers.
