The purpose of this performance conversation is to have an open conversation to discuss accomplishments, lessons learned, opportunities for personal development and organizational success, and to build a relationship of mutual trust and respect between the Employee and Manager. These conversations set the conditions to help foster a culture of accountability.

We encourage managers and employees to prepare for a meaningful performance conversation by giving thought to the questions listed below. The questions are intended to generate a dialogue where both the Employee and Manager share their perspective.

  • What helped you get the results you achieved? (such as personal strengths, resources, teamwork, other factors)

  1. What would help you enhance your performance?

  • What can I do to help you with that?

  1. What aspirations or ideas for improvement do you have for our team?

  • How can I best support the team to move in that direction?

  1. What are your work-relatedgoals for this year?

  • What steps can you take to accomplish those?

  • How can I best support you in your goals?

  1. How can we work together even more effectively?
