Transportation
Arrival: The cheapest way to travel downtown, i.e. close to the hotel is to take bus no. 19, which leaves in front of the airport. Here's the schedule for normal workdays (departure): every 30 min, e.g. 17:20, 17:50 , and it takes around 40 minutes. The bus ticket/person is around 4,50 EUR. For timetables see also next pages.

Departure: Again, by bus it’s going to be the cheapest way. Remember to be at the airport approx. one hour before the scheduled take off in order to make sure that the check-in will go smoothly.

You may reach the School of Engineering (city district Kaukovainio) with the following local bus connections: 7,12,13,14,20,24. The bus trip takes around 15 minutes. Here’s a suggestion:

Bus no. 14 (Walk approx. 200 m and step on bus at bus stop “Hellaakoski E” on Saaristonkatu, close to the crossing of Saaristonkatu and Uusikatu. Leave bus at bus stop “Kotkantie E”, and walk approx. 50 m.)

Topic: CAD integrated PDM systems, like Solidworks+PDMworks and CATIA+Smarteam. Three hours can be used to: 2. Content management systems in technical documentation and/or 4. SGML /XML: Principles of structured documentation. Our students are mechanical engineers, so I think focus should be more "How to do it" neither than theory.

Nature (Suggestion)
Visit to Nallikari, Oulu’s beach, within walking distance from the city centre, via Pikisaari approx. 3 km in one direction.
Visit to the Snowcastle in Kemi. Have a look at http://www.snowcastle.net/en/ . Kemi is a coastal city located around 100 km north of Oulu. It may be reached by train, see timetables and costs at www.vr.fi/heo/eng.

Shopping (Suggestion)
Various stores in the environment of the pedestrian road in the city centre, Rotuaari. There’s also the possibility to visit the Market Hall and Market Square. See www.rotuaari.info.
