TEAM INFORMATION SHEET

Dear Team,

On behalf of the umpiring team welcome to the ……………………………………..

I have been appointed Chief Umpire for the Competition and will be assisted by

………………………………… and …………………………………….

Before your first game there is normally a brief team talk which we would ideally like to make even briefer (!!) but importantly still ensure all teams have the relevant information they need to know what will be happening. This is particularly true when teams first games are on different sessions and/or some teams have their bye game in their section’s first games. We wish to make sure everyone gets the same information.

Below is some information which we hope will assist in that process. There will still be an opportunity to ask questions in ……add place ……. shortly before starting your first game.

HEADINGS ARE AS EXAMPLES AND EACH CHIEF UMPIRE CAN INCLUDE WHAT FEELS ARE USEFUL

Measures / Will be done by umpires- the player form each team in charge of the house is welcome to watch but the remainder of the team should stand behind the hack or out at the hoglines
Speed of Play / To try and prevent subsequent sessions running late which ultimately affects everyone please try to be ready to play at all times An 8 end game SHOULD take no more than 2 hours. If necessary we will put stopwatches on BOTH teams in any game we feel is falling behind.
Completion of scorecards/ line score sheets and posting scores / You will be asked to confirm the score by signing the scoresheet being kept by the umpires.
Please remember to put up your scores on the boards at the away end, including the last end.
Procedure for determining ‘Last stone first end’ i.e. LSD? / The following will be used…….
Tie break procedure / This season there will be a maximum of one round of tie breaks and the rule book tie break chart shows how this will work.
Ice conditions / The ice will be cut before …… and clipped before every session.
The icemakers try to give you the best possible ice to play on. Make sure your shoes and kippers are CLEAN every time you go on the ice which includes trips to the toilet
