3. English and French Posters that target the front line staff;
4. Web buttons to put on your business website;
5. Bilingual RightCards (these cards are slightly larger than a business card and includes the Stars logo, and website address);
6. A 30 second Stars promo digital video in both English and French.
We encourage you to renew your collateral in May of every year as this is when the new posters and brochures are available. To order collateral, please contact Roslyn Smith, Membership Coordinator at or call (613) 237-5150 ext 125.
Placement of Brochures: Each participating business is going to have different areas where they will want to or are able to, display the Stars of the City nomination brochure. Some suggestions are:
· Visitor Information or concierge desk
· Lobby Brochure Rack
· Hotel Rooms
· Reception Desk
We understand that although some staff are considered front line staff, they don’t always come face to face with their customers. This can make it challenging for these employees to receive the recognition via Stars nomination. We suggest that if the employee feels comfortable doing so they could mention the program to the customer at the end of an interaction by saying something along the lines of “If you feel that you received exceptional customer service today or at any other time please feel free to go to www.starsofthecity.ca and nominate that person today”.
Often organizations have their own customer comment cards. One idea would be to add a sentence about the Stars program to the company customer service cards. For example “Do you agree to have the positive comments submitted as a Stars of the City nomination?” or “Please visit www.starsofthecity.ca should you want to nominate someone through Ottawa Tourism’s Stars of the City customer service recognition program”.
How to promote the program to your staff:
· Present Stars certificates to your employees at a staff function. (i.e. staff meeting);
· Request a Stars presentation from an Ottawa Tourism staff member. We will do our best to accommodate your schedule;
· Spread the word about Stars events such as the Stars Conference and Tradeshow, Stars Recognition Evening and the front line appreciation evening;
· Talk about the Stars program when training staff in customer service.
The Stars of the City program is administered by Ottawa Tourism and operates thanks to the sponsorship of several local businesses. The program is free and anyone is welcome to participate. Please call (613) 237-5150 ext 125 for more information on how to get involved.
