ThemissionoftheTexasWorkforceCommission(TWC)istopromoteandsupportaworkforcesystemthatcreatesvalueandoffersemployers,individualsandcommunitiestheopportunitytoachieveandsustaineconomicprosperity.Tosupportourmission,weareseekingtofillaVocationalRehabilitationCounselor(VRC)I-IVpositionintheBaytownFieldOfficewhichislocatedat1300SouthHighway146,Baytown,TX77526.

TheVocationalRehabilitationCounselor(VRC)I-IVperformsroutinetoadvancedvocationalrehabilitationworkinsupportofthemission,goalsandvaluesoftheTexasWorkforceCommission.VRCI-IVappliescriticalthinkingskillsandsounddecisionmakinginperformanceofroutinerehabilitationworkintheVocationalRehabilitation(VR)program.Thisprogramassistseligibleindividualswithdisabilitiestopreparefor,retain,obtainand/oradvanceincompetitive,integratedemploymentandincludesassistingstudentswithdisabilitiestotransitionsuccessfullyfromhighschooltopostsecondaryeducationandemployment.

Theidealcandidatewillperformworkusingtheapplicablepolicy,guidance,andtheelectroniccasemanagementsystem.TheVRCI-IVishiredbytheVRSupervisorwiththeapprovaloftheVRManager,andworksindependently,withmoderatetominimalsupervisionbytheVRSupervisor.

GENERALDUTIES:

-Assistseligibleindividualswithdisabilitiestopreparefor,retain,obtainand/oradvanceincompetitive,integratedemploymentandincludesassistingstudentswithdisabilities to transition successfully from high school to postsecondary education andemployment

-Develops and maintains relations with community referral sources, businesses, employers andschools

-Collectsandanalyzesallinformationnecessarytomakeanaccurateeligibilitydecision(e.g.medical,psychological,schoolrecords,employmentrecords,etc.)

-Assiststhecustomerinchoosinganappropriateemploymentbyanalyzinginformationtodeterminethecustomer’sstrengths,resources,priorities,concerns,abilities, capabilities and interests, and matching that information to the current jobmarket

-Works with the consumer to develop a plan of services designed to achieve the consumer’s identified employmentgoals

-Ensures timely, cost-effective provision of services and consumer progress toward achievement of their employmentgoal

-Develops and implements a process leading to successful jobplacement

-Applies best value purchasing practices and uses available, comparable benefits and services to ensure effective use of publicfunds

-Performs other duties asassigned

PreferredQualifications:

AMaster’sdegreewithamajorinRehabilitationCounselingORaMaster’sdegreeincounselingorrelateddegreessuchasSpecialEducation,SocialWork,Psychology, orHuman Servicesfromanaccredited collegeoruniversityplusoneyearofrelated work experienceOR currentCertifiedRehabilitationCounselor (CRC)certificateorcurrentLicensedProfessionalCounselor(LPC)credential.ApplicantsselectedwhodonothaveaMaster’sdegreeinRehabilitationCounselingorCRCcertificateorLPCcredentialwillberequiredtomeettheComprehensiveSystemofPersonnelDevelopmenteducationalrequirementswithinatimeframeestablisheduponemployment. ThiswillentailtakingspecificcoursesthatfocusontheprofessionalroleofaRehabilitationCounselor.

Thispositioninvolvesupto30%travel,andmethodoftransportationistheresponsibilityofemployee.Counselorsarerequiredtotraveltoreachtheirassignedconsumersonaregularbasis.Thus,travelisrequiredfor thisposition.
