Senior Exploratory Statistician (m/f)

The Scope
The Senior Exploratory Statistician is to provide excellence in statistical modeling and simulation across all learning phases of development, from pre-clinical to proof-of-concept studies, in close collaboration with the other components of Pharmacometrics with the objective to accelerate de development by innovative modeling approaches and study designsand permit data driven decision making. Emphasis is put on Bayesian approaches.
The missions
- Perform statistical modeling and simulation, including Bayesian models, dose-response, trial simulation, study designs and decision sciences to formulate various outcome scenarios for quantitative decision across all phases of clinical development.
- Contribute to the design and analysis of early phases studies, PK/PD, Proof of Concept and Population studies to ensure both effective decision and submission.
- Partner with non-clinical research, to support the translational methodology and the Model Based Drug Development paradigm.
- Contributes to the integration of exploratory statistics in all Clinical Development Plans, when applicable.
- Follow up on scientific advances in all aspects of Exploratory Statistics by regular monitoring of the scientific literature and regulatory guidance’s, training courses, workshops, congresses.
- Contribute to the innovation and development of adapted methodologies through collaboration with the universities.
- Train and coach team members in assigned areas of expertise.
- Propose, develop and maintain specific operating procedures, working instructions and user guides for ensuring compliance and quality of Exploratory Statistics activities, as appropriate.
Job qualifications:
-At least 5 years experience in pharmaceutical industry with broad knowledge of early drug development, and demonstrated experience in statistics, modeling and simulation in exploratory drug development. Interest for, understanding and knowledge of pharmaceutical, laboratory, preclinical and early clinical development and the underlying statistical issues.
-PhD in biostatistics required. A strong background in Bayesian statistics is preferred.
-Understanding of pharmacokinetics/dynamics and population modeling methods.
-Advanced awareness in optimal designs and adaptive designs.
-Awareness and interest of all phases of drug development, in particular : biopharmaceutics, pharmacology, PK/PD, biomarkers, clinical efficacy and safety measurements, laboratory sciences
-Computer/software proficiency supporting data analysis, including familiarity with R, Matlab, SAS,Bayesian methods (e.g., Winbugs).
-Knowledge of regulatory guidelines pertaining to drug development, statistics and M&S
-Excellent communication skills.
