Marketing Executive
The Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO) is the oldest and largest Commonwealth intergovernmental organisation in the field of information and communication technologies. Our history is traced back to 1901 with the establishment of the Pacific Cable Board and the organisation has existed in its present form as an intergovernmental treaty organisation since 1967. With a diverse membership spanning developed and developing countries, small island developing states, the private sector and civil society, the CTO aims to become a trusted partner for sustainable development for all through ICTs.
As a part of delivering its mandate, CTO organises events and delivers capacity building programmes around the world. Marketing Executive will promote and gain stakeholder engagement for the CTO’s events and capacity development programmes.
Applications are open to candidates with extensive work experience, a willingness to take on new challenges, have the confidence and communications skills to deal with high level decision makers, could prioritise effectively and deliver to high standards.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS
Essential
· A degree in a relevant area
· Minimum 3 years post qualification experience
· Good IT skills, particularly Excel
· High degree of commercial awareness and business acumen
· Strong interpersonal skills
· Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment with other team members
· Ability to prioritise and manage conflicting demands
· Multitasking skills
· Experience of working in a membership organisation will be an added qualification
Starting salary will range from £21,846 p.a. to £25,557 p.a. depending on the qualifications and experiences.

JOB TITLE: Marketing Executive
DIVISIONS: Events division and Capacity Development division1. Term: Four (4) year contract subject to a probation period of six (6) months, renewable for a further period of four (4) years
2. JOB PURPOSE:
This post is responsible for generating revenue from CTO events and capacity development programmes by selling delegate places, selling sponsorships and through other forms of revenue streams.
3. DEPARTMENT PURPOSES:
The Events department holds around 10 events every year in various parts of the world on aspects of information and communication technologies (ICTs) such as Broadband, Cybersecurity, Digital Switchover and Spectrum, aimed at informing stakeholders of the latest developments on the subject areas. Delegates pay a registration fee to attend these events and commercial entities become sponsors to gain raise their profiles through the events.
The Capacity Development division delivers around 40 training workshops every year on ICT subjects to build capacity of stakeholders where delegates pay a fee to attend.
Delegates for events and training come from both CTO member countries and non-Member countries.
4. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Reporting to: Manager – Events and Manager – Capacity Development

Other key relationships: Must coordinate activities with other divisional heads to ensure sales leads pertaining to them are passed on
5. HOURS OF WORK AND LOCATION
Hours of work: 40 hours per week including one unpaid hour for lunch each day.
Note: The incumbent shall work such additional time beyond the contractual minimum as may reasonably be required to fulfil the organisation’s work requirements. Remuneration will not apply for such additional work.

6. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES (by Function)
Responsibilities by Function: 70% Events and 30% Capacity Development
A. Events (70%):
· To provide marketing support to the Events division
· To create a marketing/sales plan for CTO events, products and services
· To create databases of possible event delegates, sponsors and exhibitors
· To validate and update such databases in consultation with the relevant CTO Managers
· To sell delegate places, sponsorship packages, advertising space and exhibition space at CTO events
· To keep colleagues updated with information relevant to the management of commercial opportunities for CTO
· To assist in the development and writing of short announcements, production of flyers and other literature that will assist in effective sales, publicity and promotion
· To build relationships with delegates at conferences with the objective of creating opportunities for collaboration between the CTO and other entities
· To assist the relevant Manager and other staff in arrangements for conferences and other commercial events/meetings, including manning CTO displays and exhibits at conferences and event sites
· To submit weekly and monthly reports as requested, as well as to prepare completed timesheets in respect of output and work done
B. Capacity Development:
· Identify delegate and sponsorship opportunities and leads for each course
· Identify candidates for training, sponsorships and exhibitions
· Sell delegate places, sponsorship packages, advertising space and exhibition space at training events
· sell CTO training courses
· Explore delegates and other sponsorship opportunities with the donor community and private sponsors
· Undertake regular update of the contact management system as required
· Assist with the identification of further training requirements from current and potential customers
C. Other
· Undertake Member relations in the capacity of a Membership Account Manager for selected members as may be decided by the Secretary-General
· Undertaking any other duties in his/her specialty that may be assigned by the Secretary-General.
7. KEY DELIVERABLES
a. Generate revenue from CTO events by selling delegate places, sponsorships, exhibition space and advertising space
