- CALL TO ORDER
Dr. Burrell, chairman, called the meeting to order at 6:30PM as a regular monthly meeting of the Board of Education. Dail Cantrellled the pledge of allegiance.

A. Dr. Burrell thanked the board for the work they did in asking county commission to approve capital outlay projects. - Fall district meeting at HardinValleyAcademyon September 20, 2011.

- DIRECTOR’S REPORT
Lisa Swisher, Grand Oaks Elementary School (GOES) teacher,described Something Good at her school that occurred over the summer. She said GOES kindergarten teachers held a “CampKindergarten” for upcoming kindergarteners that would allow parents to become involved in their child’s education and would also serve to get to know students on a one-on-one basis. It would also identifystudent’s strengths and weaknesses. The program was very well received with 24 students attending and 13 parents there to observe.
Mike Brady presented architectural drawings and a site plan for the new LearnCenter. He said plans are to begin construction in early November and open in August 2012 with a capacity of 270 students. Motion by Dail Cantrell and seconded by Glenda Langenberg to approve the concept and drawings as presented for the LearnCenter. Motion carried.
Jo Williams and Rickey Rose updated the board on information presented at the TSBA Law Institute held in July 2011. Agenda items included the new tenure and collaborative conferencing laws.
Motion by Dail Cantrell and seconded by Glenda Langenberg to request the continuation of a partnership between TVA and AndersonCountySchools. Motion carried.
Motion by Dail Cantrell and seconded by Rickey Rose to ask Mr. Foster to take the steps necessary to allow AndersonvilleElementary School fifth graders to get off the bus at NorrisMiddle School to participate in the Boys GirlsClub activities at Norris Middle. Motion carried.
Dail Cantrell asked Mr. Foster to contact TSSAA to ensure that Dr. Richie Noe, Chiropractor, can continue providing free physicals for school athletes.
- VII. STUDENT SERVICES REPORT
The report was accepted as read.
VIII. COMMITTEE REPORTS
- Glenda Langenberg reported the committee met August 2, 2011 to review the following policies: Service Animals, Student Transfers within the System and Separation Practices for Non-Tenured Teachers and Classified Employees.
Motion by Glenda Langenberg and seconded by Dail Cantrell to approve the proposed policy for service animals on first reading. Motion carried.
IX. ACTION ITEMS
Motion by Rickey Rose and seconded by Jo Williams to amend the May 2011 minutes to reflect the addition of Jacqueline Cofer, a teacher who was inadvertently left off tenure list. Motion carried.
Motion by Rickey Rose and seconded by Jo Williams to approve CACFP refunding application. Motion carried.
Motion by Dail Cantrelland seconded byGlendaLangenberg to approve pay schedules. Motion carried.
Motion by Jo Williams and seconded by Glenda Langenberg to approve the AFJROTC program at ClintonHigh Schoolpending funding in September 2011. Motion carried.
