BRIEF HISTORY OF WATFORD HOW TO FIND US BY CAR
WATFORD acted as market town in the Middle Ages. Directions from the M1
WATFORD’s first brewery was founded in 1619. Leave M1 at Junction 5 taking the A4008 signposted TOWN CENTRE and
WATFORD JUNCTION station opened in 1838. then follow the signs to Watford General Hospital.
WATFORD had several silk mills until 1881.
WATFORD was granted “Borough” status by the Crown Alternative route from the M1
in 1922. Leave M1 at Junction 5, take A41 signposted Aylesbury and the North. At
WATFORD today continues to be a thriving market town first roundabout take first exit to St Albans Road. Drive along, including

THE POSTGRADUATE MEDICAL CENTRE, which includes
