An In- Depth Look at the Danielson Framework for a Model for Highly Effective Teaching

When: February 4, 11, 25, March 4, 11, 2014

Time: 4:30-7:00pm

Cost: FREE to Suffolk’s Edge Teacher Center members (Amityville, Babylon, Bay Shore, Copiague, Deer Park, Elwood, Half Hollow Hills, Harborfields, Kings Park, Northport-E. Northport, West Babylon, Western Suffolk BOCES) $50.00 for non-participating districts to attend 1 workshop or $150 for all 5 workshops.

Workshop Overview

Feb 4, 2014: Goals and expectations of the workshop:

o  Creates a structure within a complex system.

o  Provides a common language for all stakeholders.

o  Provides a roadmap for new teacher development.

Feb 11, 2014: Overview of the Danielson Structure:

o  Exploring Domain 1 & 4.

o  Review and discussion of each of the 6 subcomponents of the Danielson Framework in domain 1 and the 6 subcomponents of domain 4.

Feb 25, 2014: Exploring Domain 2

o  A discussion and review of each of the 5 subcomponents of Danielson Framework domain 2.

o  Examples provided and discussed showing ineffective, developing, effective, and highly effective strategies, techniques, and artifacts.

March 4, 2014: Exploring Domain 3:

o  A discussion and a review the 5 subcomponents of the Danielson Framework in Domain 3.

o  Examples will be discussed to show & explain techniques in Domain 3

March 11, 2014: Exploring the Danielson rubric through observation as a whole:

o  A discussion and review of the Danielson Framework.

o  Explore and discuss avenues in which the four Domains of Danielson work together as a roadmap for a highly effective lesson.
