A Word From Mr. M

This is our Maverick Mailgram #1. Mailgrams are a “labor of love” for me. I have published this little newspaper every two weeks, every single year I have taught. It comes out every other Thursday. Our first “official” 2016-2017 Mt. Bethel School of Excellence Maverick Mailgram will be published on Thursday, August 11th, and then will come out every two weeks thereafter. This paper will come home as a hard copy, and also will be published on-line on our website noted below. In this paper you will find odds and ends of what has been happening in the class and in the fifth grade as a whole, pictures of Mavericks, what is coming up and any really cool information you need to know about our Maverick Class and our Mavericks. So parents, please look for this newsletter on alternate Thursdays.

Our Maverick Website

Our class, and all of Mt. Bethel, have websites. The Maverick site will link you to everything Maverick. At http://cobblearning.net/jamesmorris you can find links to upcoming homework and due dates, links to send me email, links to interesting websites and also links to even read this Mailgram! You can let Aunts, Uncles, sisters, brothers, friends and acquaintances and Grandparents all over the world know about this web site, and they can look in on what “their little angels” are doing! This is a real time saving device for students and parents, and I recommend you check our website every Sunday evening. Parents, the Homework Pile section of this site will alert you to upcoming deadlines and due dates and will let you know about all class homework and tests several days in advance.

Maverick Moment

My first Maverick thought for this year:

“Whatever is done to the weakest among us is done to all of us.” Unknown

The next four quotes will tell you a lot about this year and Mr. M.:

“There are many causes I am willing to die for but no cause I am prepared to kill for.” Mahatma Gandhi

“The different and the novel are sweet, but regularity and repetition are also teachers.” Poet Mary Oliver

“I believe any success in life is made by going into an area with blind, furious optimism” Sylvester Stallone

“To build may have to be the slow laborious task of years.

To destroy can be the thoughtless act of a single day” Winston Churchill

Again, parents look for this information source and ask your child if you don’t see one on August 11th.

This Mailgram is usually at least one page long. We really do not have a lot to talk about as I did not have a class when we wrote this Mailgram! But we can tell you we are going to have a blast this year. We do know that already! So, come in Monday ready to have some fun and maybe, learn something along the way. J
