“JAMIE LAWSON” ARRIVES VIA GINGERBREAD MAN RECORDS/ELEKTRA TODAY

Gingerbread Man/Elektra recording artist Jamie Lawson has announced the release of his self-titled major label debut album. “JAMIE LAWSON” – which marks the premiere release from global superstar Ed Sheeran’s new Gingerbread Man Records label – is available now in stores and at all digital retailers.

“JAMIE LAWSON” was produced by Sheeran’s longtime collaborator Will Hicks (Lily Allen, Plan B, Bastille) and mixed by Ruadhri Cushnan (Mumford & Sons, Ed Sheeran), and is highlighted by the extraordinary hit single, “Wasn’t Expecting That.” The heart-wrenching track has quickly become a top 20 favorite at Hot AC radio outlets nationwide having previously reached the top 3 on the iTunes Store’s “Singer/Songwriter” chart. “Wasn’t Expecting That” is accompanied by an equally touching video. The clip – directed by award-winning filmmaker Bouha Kazmi – has drawn more than 1.4 million views thus far at the official Gingerbread Man Records YouTube channel.

“Wasn’t Expecting That” has already proven a worldwide favorite, with top 3 success in Ireland and Australia as well as top 10 chart popularity in New Zealand. In addition, the single has since been certified double-platinum by Australia’s ARIA and gold by New Zealand’s Recorded Music NZ following Lawson’s recent run as support act on those countries’ legs of Sheeran’s epic “x” worldwide tour. Immediately following a televised performance on the national morning show “BBC Breakfast,” both “Wasn’t Expecting That” and “JAMIE LAWSON” rocketed to #1 on the iTunes “Top Songs” and “Top Albums” charts in the UK.

Lawson will celebrate the release of “JAMIE LAWSON” with his first ever US television appearance on the nationally syndicated Ellen DeGeneres Show, slated to air November 10th (check local listings). As if that weren’t enough, Ed Sheeran will make a special appearance to personally introduce the British tunesmith’s much anticipated performance of “Wasn’t Expecting That” to the American audience.

Lawson – who recently joined Sheeran for select US dates including the GRAMMY® Award-nominated singer/songwriter’s epic shows at Houston’s BBVA Compass Stadium and Dallas’ Toyota Stadium – is set to accompany Atlantic recording artist Vance Joy on his upcoming North American headline tour. Jamie joins the “fire and the flood Tour 2016” in Kansas City, MO on February 17th, and then travels through an April 1st finale at Boston’s House of Blues (see attached itinerary).

In addition, Lawson will be special guest on One Direction’s upcoming “On The Road Again Tour” of stadiums and arenas across Ireland and the United Kingdom. An additional series of live dates, including eagerly awaited headline tours in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, are scheduled through late November. Jamie Lawson has earned a growing fan base following with his evocative, emotional songcraft and equally heartfelt performance. In addition to countless clubs and cafes in Ireland and the UK, the Manchester, England-based tunesmith has traveled alongside a long list of like-minded artists, including Damien Rice, Ben Howard, Ellie Golding, Ed Sheeran, Lucy Rose, and Van Morrison.

Here in the US, Lawson has already been featured in a broad range of national outlets, spanning coverage from such entertainment news programs as Extra, The Insider, E! News Weekend, and Access Hollywood to critical acclaim in a number of major publications. Both USA Today and Billboard declared Lawson to be an “Artist On The Verge,” while People named him as “One To Watch.”
