How to Embed a Curriki Resource
9-25-2009
Hi, I'm going to show you how to embed a Curriki resource into a page on another web site.
Embedding content allows you to take advantage of Curriki's repository to create, host, and edit your resources, then easily reference them from another site. You benefit from our tools, and Curriki benefits from the viral effect of your embedded content.
Before you embed a resource, make sure to check the license. Some users may have chosen a license that restricts use of the content on commercial websites. Curriki is not responsible for enforcing the license; it is up to the user to make sure you are using the resource fairly according to the terms of the contributor's chosen license. To learn more about these restrictions, see the Copyright page linked from the footer of the site.
You'll also want to make sure that the resource's Access Privileges are either Protected or Public. If you try to embed a resource that is Private, your site's users will be shown an error message stating that they do not have rights to see the resource.
Once you've checked the license and access settings, you can now make the resource immediately viewable on your website using Curriki's Embed mode. First, download the embed code from the text document within the Help Collection article titled "How to Embed Curriki Resources into Another Site". Copy the code into a text editor.
Next, find your resource on Curriki and copy the URL. Paste the URL into your text editor in place of the default code's URL. Make sure to leave the parameter "question-mark viewer=embed" at the end of the URL.
Once you're finished editing the embed code, copy and paste it into your own website where you want the resource to appear. Once you click save, you should see the Curriki resource displayed within a purple border.
Thanks for watching!
