POST: Teaching and Learning Exemplar Practitioner

COMPANY: Education Central Multi Academy Trust

LOCATION: The post holder will be based at the Wolverhampton Science Park but may be required to work at any one of the ECMAT Academies (within 25 miles of the University of Wolverhampton)

3. PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

Educated to at least degree level or equivalent with qualified teacher status, you will be an excellent classroom practitioner with a sound education philosophy. You will have a good understanding of the primary and secondary curriculum and knowledge of intervention strategies for pupils who are under-achieving. Experience in coaching and mentoring teachers is essential, as is the ability to work independently and as part of a team. You should also have recent, relevant professional development and experience showing good subject knowledge and experience of training adults and supporting improvement. You will have effective presentation, interpersonal and communication skills and be confident in the use of ICT. Effective leadership skills are also required

4. BUDGET

It is the responsibility of the post holder to ensure effective and efficient use of resources, services and goods for the solvency of ECMAT for safeguarding its assets and that the organisations financial regulations are observed. There is no individual budget responsibility assigned to this post holder.

5. PURPOSE OF THE POST

This post will support the Senior Management of ECMAT in the planning, training and delivery of school improvement solutions or bespoke programmes to raise attainment in ECMAT Academies. This may include short term placements in Education Central supported schools or Academies.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONIBILITIES

6.1  To provide short term expert classroom practice in any ECMAT Academy or supported school.

6.2  To deliver school based teaching and learning programmes for schools locally and regionally.

6.3  To assist in the development of high quality curriculum models for use in Education Central projects and programmes

6.4  To deliver high quality taught opportunities to any audience required by the programmes

6.5  To engage in research and other scholarly activity.

6.6  Work alongside others to develop expert practitioners, coaching and mentoring as appropriate.

6.7  To demonstrate good teaching and learning techniques in a range of curriculum areas across the key stages.

6.8  To contribute to Education Central activity around the Academies Support Programme.

6.9  To represent Education Central at national conferences including the dissemination of Education Central good practice within the school improvement arena.

6.10 To work creatively with other members of the teaching and learning team to devise innovative teaching and learning opportunities.

6.11 Work alongside others to develop excellent practice

6.12 Lead INSET

6.13 Coach and mentor individuals and groups

6.14 Develop their expertise and leadership to enable them to fulfil their duties

HEALTH & SAFETY

The post holder will be responsible for Health & Safety in the area under his / her control on a day-to-day basis, and must ensure as far as is reasonably practicable, that he/she is familiar with all relevant Health & Safety legislation and recommendations and that these are observed within the areas of responsibility.

DATA PROTECTION ACT (1984)

The post-holder will be familiar with the above legislation and will, at all times, bear in mind his/her responsibility under the act. Attention is specifically drawn to the need for confidentiality in handling personal data and the implications of unauthorised disclosure.

COMPUTER MISUSE ACT (1990)

The post-holder will need to have regard to the provision of the Computer Misuse Act 1990 and in particular to take such steps as may be necessary to prevent unauthorised access to computer material and the unauthorised modification of computer material.
