President’s Message

Rather than saying goodbye to the summer, say hello to the 2012-13 year at the Saginaw Valley Chapter of the IMA! We have already scheduled four thought provoking meetings for the coming year beginning with a visit to the Great Lakes Bay Region Alliance in Freeland in September. I hope everyone has seen the signs and heard the hype regarding the specifically targeted campaign uniting the tri-cities to attract both businesses and events. They promote economic development by assisting local area businesses and by recruiting new talent and investments. In addition, they are attempting to develop a rich arts and entertainment forum to highlight and attract varied activities to the area. Their vision is to develop a rich and thriving Great Lakes Bay Region, full of successful businesses and culture. What are their success stories? What new events and companies do we have to look forward to? How are area businesses surviving in the current economic climate? Terence Moore, President and CEO, will be answering those questions for us.

In November, we will hold our annual tax update. Make a note that due to the Thanksgiving holiday being earlier in the month, we have moved the meeting to the second Wednesday instead of the day before Thanksgiving. Due to the closing of Damon’s in Saginaw, we will be attempting to secure an alternative location in Bay City.

In January, we will hold an Economic Forecast at the Bay City Country Club. And our annual awards night in April will once again be held in at the NADA Building at Northwood University.

I hope you can join us, making important network connections and earning CPEs at the same time!

Jennifer

What Can The CMA Certification Do For You?

First, passing the CMA exam is a huge personal achievement. It takes a lot of discipline and dedication to study after work and sit through an examination. But, once you've conquered the first part of the exam, your momentum will carry you through the remaining part. You will feel on top of the world when you have completed both parts. This positive attitude will manifest itself in both your personal and professional endeavors.

Second, it will generate many professional opportunities. Preparing for and passing the CMA exam will increase your professional knowledge, skills, and abilities, thereby rendering your services and expertise more productive and valuable.

Third, your commitment and drive will not go unnoticed. The ambition and work ethic that is required to attain a certification while also balancing professional and personal responsibilities demonstrates to your supervisors the energy and determination that you possess, not to mention the new skills you have attained. Even if your employer does not acknowledge your certification directly, they will notice your hard work, effort, and refinement of skills.

The IMA reports that those who are certified increase their career earnings by approximately $500,000. It's a great investment to your professional career! Gleim is committed to helping you accomplish your goal of passing the exam and becoming a CMA. Your Saginaw Valley IMA Chapter has partnered with Gleim to ensure your success on the CMA exam! Working together, we will provide you the necessary tools to prepare for this difficult exam.

As a Saginaw Valley Chapter member, you receive significant discounts on the Gleim CMA Review materials and Gleim CPE.
