Job Title:Regional Manager

Location:Field based

Job Purpose

To maximise the sales and profitability for a group of shops through the effective management and leadership of shop managers and staff (including volunteers) whilst adhering to the Minds Matter mission and the core values of the charity

Key Responsibilities Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • To communicate company strategy, business priorities and targets to shop managers to ensure they maximise sales and optimise the profitability of their shop
  • Analyses sales and profit performance against the associated key performance indicators on a regular basis, provides clear direction to shop managers for performance improvement and identifies opportunities for business development
  • Ensures that all shops on the region are maximising their potential for Gift Aid contribution from donations, provides clear direction and support for the shop teams to enable them to deliver their Gift Aid targets
  • Provides input to the annual budgeting, sales and reforecasting processes
  • Recruits, manages, develops and motivates shop managers to ensure sales objectives and customer service standards are delivered and aligned to the Minds Matter mission and company values
  • Coaches and advises shop managers on people issues, conducts ongoing performance feedback and formal performance reviews, counsels where necessary
  • Monitors regional/ shop P&L, operating budget and variable costs to ensure the region is on track to achieve its goals and takes proactive action where necessary to rectify and resolve issues
  • Provides open, two way communication both verbally and written involving the prioritising and sharing of relevant information to and from Regional Colleagues, Shop Managers, Head Office personnel, external and internal contacts associated with Minds Matter
  • Identifies shop managers /staff training and development needs on the region to ensure that the relevant and appropriate training is provided to enable individuals to improve personal and team performance
  • Undertakes shop visits to evaluate sales performance, shop layout and presentation, people issues, operating procedures, administration, health and safety
  • Ensures that all Minds Matter policies and procedures in respect of Security, Health and Safety are adhered to in order to provide a safe and secure environment for all employees, customers and company assets
  • Provides assistance in the acquisition of new shops with site evaluation and the operating plan for shop openings.

Job Dimensions

Has accountability for the profit and loss of a group of shops.

The average shop generates £1500k per week and a Regional Manager manages c 14 shops, therefore being accountable for app. £1 million per annum.

A typical shop employs 1 full time staff and 1.5 part- time with an average of 12 volunteers

Authorised spend up to a maximum of £200 for an individual item

Decision Making Parameters

Empowered to make decisions on all aspects of the day to day running of a group of shops within the guidelines set by the company. Consults their Line Manager on all non routine decisions e.g. reinvestment or resetting of financial targets

Manages recruitment for the Region, plans and makes recommendations for internal promotions.
