Spelling “Choice Board”

1. Homework--Choose ONE activity from each level. You will turn in a TOTAL of FOUR activities every Friday.

2. Label each assignment at the top of the page and indicate which level it comes from.

Squiggle or bubble words – creatively write each word / Write a quality sentence with each spelling word. Put a / between the complete subject & predicate / Classify words according to their parts of speech / Draw a picture. “Hide” your words in the picture. I need to be able to read the words.
Pyramid words – Write your words adding one letter at a time. The result will be a pyramid shape of words. / Using http://www.spellingcity.com complete one of the activities. Write a note explaining which activity you completed. Have your teacher or parent sign. / Write a poem using at least 10 words / Write an acrostic poem. For example for the word “write”

Write each word 3x each in cursive / Divide each word into syllables—check with dictionary
i.e. friend-ly / Look up each word in the dictionary—write the spelling words and the guide words for that word / Write a friendly letter to someone using 10 or more of the words.
Make a set of flashcards to study from / Rainbow Words – Write words using one color for vowels and another color for consonants. / Ransom spelling: cut out letters from newspapers or magazines. Glue letters on paper to spell your spelling words / Create a secret code by assigning a number or symbol to each letter of the alphabet. Write your spelling words in code and have an answer key.
Type your spelling words on the computer / Take a practice test with a parent and have them grade it (parent signature required) / Use each spelling word to show possession
i.e. girl’s watches / Write a short story using at least 10 of your words. Underline each word within the story.
