PURPOSE OF POST:
Under the direction of the Representative and in close collaboration with the Education and External Communication Programs, the incumbent will provide technical support to the Mali Country Office in the area of External Communications and Media Relations in order to ensure effective implementation of the 2015 edition of the Back to School Campaign in Mali. The incumbent will be responsible for the design and execution of the communication strategy for the campaign, including media relations with national and international media to increase the UNICEF profile in Mali. The incumbent will ensure high quality of the above mentioned campaign in collaboration with the Education sector, and external communication team. The incumbent will conduct research and develop communication/advocacy materials and tools for media outreach, and key stakeholders. / REPORTS TO: Representative, D1

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/DUTIES & TASKS
1. In collaboration with the education and communication programs develop and execute the communication strategy for the 2015 edition Back to School Campaign in Mali
2. Support the media and advocacy outreach, including media visits (when pertinent) to promote the campaign as needed
3. Support to the Production of advocacy and communication materials (e.g., films, video, audio-visual, etc.), and oversees the qualitative aspects of production, (e.g., quality control, translation, review of layouts and graphic design) for the entire campaign
4. Assists the education program in developing advocacy/media materials and tools and maintain close collaboration media and other stakeholders, as well as with groups and organizations whose support is essential to the achievement of set communication objectives for the campaign.
5. Documenting the Back to School Campaign initiative with relevel communication tools and materials.
6. Assist in the production of human interest stories and media materials (press releases, fact sheets, key messages, talking points, video and social media content) for the Back to School Campaign in Mali All materials, will be disseminated to national/international media, NATCOMS, Regional Offices and Head Quarters.
7. Engage national and international media to highlight UNICEF’s support to the Government of Mali in terms of Education in Emergencies and particularly UNICEF’s role in the Back to School Campaign 2015 edition.
8. Generate Social Media content from the field to support the campaign (Twitter, FB, Blogs, etc.)
9. Any other relevant task assigned. / QUALIFICATION and COMPETENCIES
Education
Advanced University Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Social/Human Sciences or other related field.
Work Experience
Five years of relevant work experience. Relevant UN or NGO experience an asset.
