Physics Portfolio
In Physics there are many standards (called TEKS) that you are supposed to learn throughout the year. Thestandards arebroken down into three categories – readiness, supporting, and scientific process skills. For your Physicsportfolio you need to show that you learned at least some part of each of the 20readiness standards.
Your portfolio needs to be in a three brad folder and it must include the following:
1st a title page with a table of contents
2nd this piece of paper
3rda copy of the Physicsstandards/TEKS (on next page – these can also be found on Mrs. LaFever’s website)
4that least 20 documents to prove that you have learned at least some part of each readiness standard. You may use tests, labs, quizzes, worksheets, or homework problems. You may NOT use notes.
If you can remember a certain activity you did, but no longer have the paper, you may write a short summary (half a page typed) explaining the activity and the objective it met. You can also receive credit for a standard by completing one lab AND one quiz from the applicable in the online book.
The portfolio will be graded 5 points for each readiness standard you document. Remember you must include a document for all 20 readiness standards. To earn all your quality points make a nice title page, bind the portfolio in a folder with brads, and turn it in on time.
For bonus points you can include papers to show that you also learned the scientific process skills standards. You will earn an additional 0.5point for each extra standard you document (there are 20 scientific process skills standards, so you could possibly earn 10 extra points).
On the list below mark off the standards you include in your portfolio. The 20 readiness standards are shaded. LABEL EACH DOCUMENT, WITH A RED PEN OR PENCIL, IN THE TOP RIGHT CORNER WITH THE STANDARD (# and LETTER) IT SATISFIES. The 51 possible standards (labeled with # and letter) are listed below. (Example: when you find a paper that documents standard 1A put a check mark on the list below and use a red pen or pencil and write 1A in the top right hand corner of the paper. You would continue to do the same for the rest of the standards.) In your folder place the documents in order by the standard number/letter you write in red at the top right of the page.
