Math K-8 Assessment Guidelines: 2014-2015 School Year

Goals:

1.  AVMR or SNAP Assessment will be completed for each individual child to inform instruction and to determine if the child has achieved math grade level foundational skills.

2.  An assessment team will be utilized to expedite the assessment process and to provide consistency district wide.

Overall Procedures:

  1. The assessment team will work together as a team to assess students in each school whenever possible rather than splitting up across the district.
  2. Students will be assessed by the person who picks them up at the classroom. Special arrangements for a specific assessor will be prearranged only through the math coach or principal. (Ex: Special circumstances such as those with extreme behaviors, speech problems, etc will be considered for an assigned assessor.)
  3. Once the determined target is reached by the assessor with individual children, the test will stop.
  4. Retesting will occur with principal approval, in cases of extenuating circumstances.
  5. All kits should remain intact and ready to be used. The assessment materials used for the SNAP or AVMR Test cannot be removed from the kit or used for classroom instruction.
