Justin Parks and Recreation Committee – April 1, 2013

The Justin Parks and Recreation Committee convened into a regular meeting the same being open to the public the 4TH day of March at 6:00 p.m. at the Justin Municipal Complex, and notice of said meeting giving the time, place, date and subject thereof having been posted as prescribed by Article 5 of the Texas Government Code, with the following members present and in attendance to wit:

Justin Parks and Recreation Committee Chair David Speicher. Committee Members: Jean Ann Chambers, Emory Kea. City Manager Ashley Stathatos, City Parks Manager Jon Wells, and Event Coordinator Shani Ihnfeldt and City Secretary Kim Strange. Justin Youth Association Vice President Zeb Land.

Guests: None.

Discuss, Consider and Act to Approve the Justin Parks and Recreation Committee Minutes of March 4, 2012.

Committee Member Emory Kea made a Motion to Approve the Justin Parks and Recreation Committee Minutes of March 4, 2013. Committee Member Jean Ann Chambers seconded the Motion. Vote was unanimous.

V. ACTION ITEMS

1.  Consider and Act on going forward with the Purchase of Shirts for Park & Recreation Board Members.

Committee Member Chambers states the t-shirts have been ordered. Payment is due when t-shirts are delivered. Dave and Jon owe $30.14 and everyone else is $25.64. Ola Sykora, Kim Strange, and Leslie Baker still owe $25.64 each.

2.  Discuss, Consider and Act on Survey Form.

Chairman Speicher states that the survey forms need to be included in an e-blast and put on bishop sign. JYA volunteered to have them available opening day.

3.  Update from Jon Wells Parks Manager about the City of Justin Parks.

Parks Manager Jon Wells stated he has been waiting on Oncor to reply to his emails and that will affect the cost of constructing the Concession/Restroom Building.

4.  Update from Shani Ihnfeldt City of Justin Employee on Justin Fun Days 2013.

City Event Coordinator Shani Ihnfeldt states we have at least 40 vendors signed up. The entertainment is booked. We currently have a mechanical bull. Shani is waiting to hear from AG Power on the mules. Shani expects more inflatable’s to be available; she will also have maps of the event. She will be ordering t-shirts for Fun Day 2013 as well as Posters

5. Consider and Act to compile an Agenda for the next Park and Recreation Committee Meeting.

Committee Chair David Speicher suggests to place agenda items 2, 3 and 4 on May 2013’s agenda.

VI. ADJOURNMENT

Committee Member Emory Kea made a Motion to Adjourn. Committee Member Jean Ann Chambers seconded the Motion. Vote was unanimous.
