These instructions are for downloading eBooks to a Common eReader device.

(For devices that do not have Apps)

Download & Login

1. Go to the Martin Library Homepage at: and click “eBooks Collection” 2x.

2. Once you are on the Southwest Michigan Digital Library Website click on “HELP” to download the proper software. This will take you to a page that includes many help options including video tutorials.

3. Click “Software” and then click on the proper software for your downloading needs. (You can choose both)

Adobe® Digital Editions (Intended for Adobe eBooks)

OverDrive® Media Console (Intended for OverDriveeAudios [audio books], Music and Video)

4. Follow the prompted steps for Adobe Digital Editions and/or Overdrive Media Console®.

Register your software by following the steps when prompted.

5. Once the downloads are complete go back to the Overdrive website

6. Click “Sign In” and select “JC Wheeler Public Library” from the drop down box

7. Sign in by using your Library card number.

Search & Advanced Search

Tap the Magnifying Glass on the green menu bar to type in a basic search and then tap “Search”

Tap the Magnifying Glass and then “Advanced Search” for title, author, subject, etc. and then tap “Search”

You may now start browsing the collection to find & download your eBooks and eAudios.

Downloading your eBooks and eAudios

8. Once you have found an item you wish to check out click on the item and then click “Borrow”

9. Now that you have clicked borrow you will now click “Download” and then select the format for your device.

Usually EPUB eBook unless using a Kindle Device

10. Click “Confirm & Download”. As the download initiates you will be asked to authorize your device.

11. Once your Book(s) have downloaded, click on the icon that says “Library”

The icon should be in the top left corner and look like this image:

12. Plug-in your device and make sure that it is on.

13. Click on the book you wish to transfer to your device and drag it to the left side of the screen. Let go of the item on top of your device name. Your eBook is now on your device!

Checking Your Overdrive Account

14. Click “Account” at the top of the page you can view/edit the your Account Settings

Your currently check out items will appear on the left. Your other settings appear on the right site of the screen. You can view and edit your Bookshelf, Holds, Lists, and Checkout Settings.
