Selectivity in organizational rule violations: An empirical examination of restaurant inspections.
This is an ongoing large-scale project that explores trends in rule violations by firms. It is being conducted in collaboration with the Los Angeles Department of Public Health; data has been collected from the 93,955 inspections of the 17,065 full-service restaurants in operation in LA County from 2000 to 2010. Preliminary analyses are under way and multiple papers are expected to result from this project, one of which is an empirical test of our AMR (2009) theory. Collaborators: R. Ramanujam and B. Cooil. (I am serving as principal investigator.)
Authenticity as a source of competitive advantage.
This is an ongoing large-scale project that explores the joint impact of safety and perceived authenticity on consumer satisfaction by examining online consumer comments and health inspection scores from restaurants in Los Angeles, Dallas, and New York City. Preliminary analyses are under way and multiple papers are expected to result from this project. Collaborators: G.R. Carroll and B. Kovacs.
