NUS e-Exam Things to Note (Part 1 of 3)

Install, test and troubleshoot the NUS LockDown Browser

(For students who use their own laptops to take the e-Exam)

  1. Install the NUS LockDown Browser
  1. Login to your laptop as administrator
  2. If you are trying from home, login to NUS WebVPN (https://webvpn.nus.edu.sg/) first.

Once successfully connected, you should see the Network Connect icon () on the Notification Tray.

Note: First-time users need to download and install the software.

  1. Go to http://e.ivle.nus.edu.sg and perform Step A.

Mac users please check the version number of your OS.

i.  Choose About This Mac from the Apple () menu

ii. Write down the version number of your OS

  1. Test the NUS LockDown Browser

Note: No need to run the diagnostic test, click No if you see the popup window.

  1. Go to http://e.ivle.nus.edu.sg, Step B – click on the TEST BROWSER link to test the browser

OR

  1. Go to http://e.ivle.nus.edu.sg, Step C – click on the link to start the e-Exam
  2. Login with your NUSNET user ID and password
  3. If there are no available e-Exams, click on the link in the message to exit.
  4. If there are e-Exams,
  5. If you have completed the e-Exam before, please approach the lecturer to delete the previous attempt
  6. Click on the notepad icon to take the e-Exam
  7. Enter the e-Exam password provided by the lecturer, if any
  8. Click on the End Assessment button to end the e-Exam
  9. Click on the Click to Proceed button
  10. Click on the Close link at the top right-hand corner. Click on the Refresh button if there is no Close link.
  11. Type in the exit password provided by the lecturer to exit the e-Exam.
  1. Self-troubleshooting (if both Step B and Step C in the earlier step fail)
  1. Disable antivirus program, e.g. Trend Micro and Kingsoft Antivirus, if any.
  2. (Windows user only) Download and install the latest NVIDIA driver, if any
  3. Go to Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager
  4. Expand the Display adapters node
  1. Select the adapter, right-click and select Update Driver Software
  1. Select Search automatically for updated driver software
  2. Restart your laptop after updating the driver
  3. If the above steps fail, go to http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx, manually find and update the driver.

  1. (Windows user only) Go to Control Panel -> Windows Update, download and install the available updates
  2. (Windows user only) Reset Internet Explorer’s settings to their default condition
  3. Go to Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Advanced
  4. Click Reset…
  5. Click Reset to confirm

  1. If PDF viewing is required, download and install the latest Adobe Reader.
  2. Go to http://get.adobe.com/
  3. Select Adobe Reader from the Download menu
  1. If video support is needed, download and install the latest Adobe Flash Player.
  2. Go to http://get.adobe.com/
  3. Select Adobe Flash Player from the Download menu
  1. If nothing works, email the NUS e-Exam team () for further troubleshooting.
