  2. Draw your streets using a straightedge. NEATNESS COUNTS!!!!
  3. Lay out your locations according to the directions given by your teacher.
  4. Check your work!!
  5. Write the name of your streets on your design.
  6. Now that you have read all the instructions, you have two classperiods to complete this project.

City Design Project

You are a City Engineer and you are to design your own city. Your city will have a name. All streets must be named. Please start by putting your name on the back of this project.

Your city must have the following and be correct to receive full credit.

  1. 2 parallel streets (each street must be named) – Be sure to give enough room between your parallel lines.
  2. 2 transversal streets should create a triangle(each street must be named) and another transversal in another location. This is 3 transversals all together.

The following buildings must be placed as directed.

  1. Look at the transversals that form a triangle. A Footlocker will be placed at an exterior angle which is 140 degrees and a Subway and KFC on the remote interior angles which measure (5y + 3) and (4y +8). Please add these measurements when you draw these locations.
  2. A gas station and a restaurant (alternate exterior angles)
  3. Your house and a school (same side interior angle)
  4. A courthouse and a bank (vertical angles)
  5. A Quick Check and Walgreens (corresponding angles)
  6. A library and a park (alternate interior angles)

All names must be school appropriate.

Parallel lines cut by a transversal create angle relationships.

1. Name three pairs of buildings are placed on congruent angles? Identify the relationship of the angles.

2. Name a pair of buildings whose streets form supplementary angles? Identify the relationship of the angles.

3. If the angle of the street where Footlocker stands is 140 degrees, and the angles of Subway and KFC are (5y +3) and (4y + 8), what are measurements of the two angles?

4. Are there any buildings on adjacent angles? Explain your answer.
