Young Eagles Learning to Soar March 2016

From the Principal

As we move into spring, school attendance remains a strong indicator of a student's success at school. Being in school is important for school achievement and required by the state of Oregon. We want your child to be successful so please call us if you have any questions regarding attendance or need more information.

We are about ready to start Theme 3 in our CATCH program, Speaking the Language of CATCH. Ask your child about slow, whoa, go foods. Let them tell you about Move/stay active, Value healthy eating, and Practice healthy habits. In addition, PE classes are still meeting the goal of having most students actively participate most of the PE time.

March 7-11 is Classified Appreciation Week. This is a time set aside to honor our classified staff. If you are not sure who is in this category, please ask! Please feel free to seize the opportunity to let one of our dedicated classified staff know you appreciate what they do!

The Parent Club will be honoring both the teachers and classified staff during the month of May.

Book Fair results

We earned $612 in profit to purchase books for our classrooms and library. Thank you for your support!

Reading Incentive Program ends April 1st

We hope you will help us encourage our students to keep reading and turn in their “Sail Around the World Reading Logs.” Any student that reaches their classroom goal will automatically be entered into the Bikes for Books drawing that is sponsored by the Cottage Grove Masonic Lodge held at the end of the school year. The winner gets to choose a brand new bicycle!

Can House

Remember to drop off your cans and bottles in our collection house. It’s a great fundraiser for us. A special thanks to the Pifer family and the volunteers who are helping sort each month.
