ABINGDON & DISTRICT INVITATIONAL DARTS LEAGUE
CONSTITUTION & RULES
1. Constitution
a) The league will be known as the Abingdon & District Invitation Darts League.
b) The purpose of the league is to provide competition for amateur teams of players within the area of Abingdon & District. Teams will be automatically accepted into the league if they fall within the permitted 6-mile radius from the centre of Abingdon. Any teams wishing to enter from outside this radius will be subject to a vote by the members.
c) The affairs of the league shall be conducted by a committee.
d) Election of officers shall take place annually at the A.G.M. Proposals for new officers must be put in writing 14 days prior to the A.G.M.
e) Voting at the A.G.M shall be on the basis of one vote per team
f) Each team must appoint a member to attend all League Committee meetings & AGM. A committee member can represent their team in the event of no other team member in attendance.
g) League rules may only be amended at an AGM or EGM
2. League Fee’s / Player Registration
a) Registration for league must be processed via the online registration section of the Abingdon darts webpage. Competitionentries can be made via a registration form which will be available to download in the documents section on the webpage. All entry fees to be paid to the Treasurer at a date specified before the season commences.
b) Mid-season player sign on is permitted for the first half of the season. This will be made available online under the registration tab with a £5 charge per player. A player must be registered prior to playing, if a player is played without being signed on the game will be void and result will be given in favour of the opposing player(s).
c) No player will be allowed to play for more than one team in the league.
d) New teams registering for a season will be put forward at the AGM to allow league members to vote if a team is to enter the league or not.
3. Dartboard / Scoring / Seating
a) The length of the throw will be 7ft 6ins, Height of the board to the centre of the bull will be 5ft 8ins but may vary according to the house conditions.
b) Type of board is optional but must be in good condition with adequate lighting.
c) All scoreboards to be in front of the thrower and should be capable of showing all scoring throws of both players.
d) In the event of uncertainty players should check their score with the marker before removing their darts as removing them from the board shall be deemed to have ended their throw and any score recorded will stand.
4. General Points System
a) Men’s Premier league matches : 6 singles games x 501 best of 5 legs straight start, double finish & 3 pair’s games x 601 best of 3 legs straight start, double finish.
b) All other Men’sleague matches : 6 singles games x 501 best of 3 legs straight start, double finish & 3 pair’s games x 601 best of 3 legs straight start, double finish.
c) Ladies matches : 6 singles games x 301 best of 3 legs straight start, double finish, 3 Pairs games x 401 best of 3 legs straight start, double finish.
d) These games can be played in any of the following formats : singles followed by pairs, pairs followed by singles. Decision to be made by home team captain.
e) Points scoring will be as follows : 1 point per game in the Singles (6 max) and 1 point per game in the Pairs (3 max).
f) Should any team withdraw from the league during the season all fixtures previous and future will be a 0 - 0 result.
5. Night of Play
a) Each team shall consist of a minimum of 6 players. A match can commence with fewer players if both teams are happy to commence. A full leg amount win will be awarded to any opposing player drawn against any missing player.
b) If a player is late and when his/her game is to be played, the opposing captain has the option of skipping that game and returning to it when the player arrives. However it must be played in the singles if it is a singles game or doubles if it is a doubles game.
c) All games to start on time irrespective of the number of players.
d) Men’s match time is 8:15pm, with a grace period of 15 minutes, matches underway by 8:30pm. If both teams are ready games can commence earlier if agreed.
e) Ladies match time is 8:00pm, with a grace period of 15 minutes, matches underway by 8:15pm. If both teams are ready games can commence earlier if agreed.
e) Order of throw will be decided by nearest the bull with the Home player to throw for bull first. Please note two 25’s do not count as a draw unless they are the same distance from the bull.
f) Men’s Premier league games will be bull winner will throw first in legs 1, 3 & 5.
g) Other Men’s league games bull winner will throw first in legs 1 & 3.
h) Men’s summer league will be best of 5 legs bull winner will throw first in legs 1, 3 & 5
i) Ladies games bull off in legs 1 & 3.
j) Home team is to update the league web results. If this is not completed by the 3rd day after play the away team can update the score and notify website admin of the update. All scores must be updated the same week of play. Away team to take a photograph of the result card for their records in case of any discrepancy.
6. Cancellations
a) Any team wishing to cancel a match must give the opposition reasonable notice. League matches cannot be cancelled except in legitimate circumstances.
b) Teams involved in cancelling a match must inform the Committee of the cancellation so the match can be postponed.
c)Two fixture dates will be allocated within a season, one for the first half and one for the second half of the season. These dates will fall at the end of each half of the season. A postponed game must be played within the half of the season it was cancelled on the pre-defined fixture date.
d) Any team failing to fulfil the pre-defined fixture date will automatically forfeit the game and lose the match 9-0.
7. Protests and Disputes
a) All protests regarding a match must be made in writing and forwarded to the Committee.
b) Proposals for alterations, deletions, or additions to the rules shall be forwarded to the Committee at least 14 days before the next AGM in order to allow for circulation to all teams.
c) Any item or rule not covered by the above, the decision of the committee will be final.
d) In the event of any violent conduct being reported to the committee the offender/offenders will be excluded from any further league games and competitions with immediate effect. The following season a vote will be raised at the AGM regarding the player/players involved and if they are to be accepted back into the league.
e) No member of the committee will be approached individually at any time. All communications must be made via the email address. If a member is approached and not happy with being approached the person/people associated will be disciplined by the committee and potentially banned from the league and any competitions with immediate effect.
8. General
a) Any matter regarding website, fixtures or competitions can be directed to the committee league admin representative at any time using necessary communication methods in place.
b) The no bust rule applies to all league and competition games.
c) Where the Public house has more than one team the Licensee may play for either team providing they have signed on as a registered league player, but will not be able to play for more than one team on a match night.
d) Only two currently registered county players will be allowed to play within a team at any one time. This includes both league matches and competitions.
e) Ladies and Men are not permitted to play in each other’s league or competitions.
f) Any player registered and underage can only play within the pubs at the licensee’s discretion.
g) Barracking or harassment of players is unacceptable.
h) Other matters not covered by these rules shall be referred to the committee, whose decision is final.
9. Competitions
a) All straight start, double finish.
b) All Competition’s to commence at 8pm unless otherwise stated.
c) All singles competitions are played as per league format regarding bull. Player drawn first throws for bull first.
Pairs* – As per league format
Ladies Fours* – 601 x best of 3 games
Men’s Three’s* – 801 x best of 3 games
Ladies Three’s* (Dotti Lister) – 601 x best of 3 games
Men’s Neal Trophy – 6 Players, 1001 x best of 3 legs
Ladies Team Comp – 6 Players, 801 x best of 3 legs
Mixed Pairs, Tony Champ Memorial Trophy – 501 x best of 3 legs (only one player must be a registered player of the league)
*Players can mix from the same venue teams having more than one team within the league
d) Additional competitions may be created by the committee. Guidelines appropriated to thatcompetition will be detailed at the time of creation and posted on the Abingdon darts website accordingly.
10. Trophies & Presentation
All team/individualrecipients of trophies will be responsible for the cleaning, upkeep and safe return of any annual trophies. Trophies needing repair will be charged accordingly to the responsible holder/venue.
