There once lived two children named Hansel and Gretel. One day, they overheard their parents talking about abandoning them. Gretel couldn’t understand why they would do this to them. She began to quietly sob in her bedroom because she knew there was no changingtheir thinking. But Hansel had already begun to think of what they would do once he heard the terrifying news: they would need to be able to find their way back home just in case, because the forest was dangerous and easy to get lost in. The next morning, he thought of the plan:he would find sticks and rocks to showthem how to get back home. So they gathered as many as they could find, and put it inside one of their shirts they hadmade into a sack.
Whentheir parents finally told them the devastating news, they hadalready planned for the worse. As they walked through the forest, they laid down sticks and rocks whenever they turned. Later that day, it started to get dark, so they bundled up next to a tree for warmth, when a witch came by and saw them. She kindly invited them to her place, butwhen they arrived, the witch quickly locked Hansel inside a cage, and commanded Gretel to open and test the heat of the oven for her. Hearing this odd task, she immediately knew what the witch had in plan. She came up with a plan of her own, and asked,“How would I test the heat of the oven?” So the witch fell for the trap and showed her, at which Gretel closed the oven and locked her inside. The wicked witch began to scream for her life until the pure heat killed her. Gretel then freed her brother and they continued on their journey.
