LongwoodUniversity and RichardBlandCollege have long enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship created to meet the needs of many outstanding students. Now, we would like to strengthen the partnership between the two schools through a transfer agreement with LongwoodUniversity’s College of Business & Economics.

Additionally, transfer students admitted to Longwood’s College of Business & Economics now have the option to complete their degree at the main Longwood campus in Farmville or at the convenient Richmond center located in the Retail Merchants Association building located at 5101 Monument Avenue.

  1. Guaranteed Admission Agreement (2005) - Students who have at least a cumulative GPA of 2.5 and will earn the AA or AS will be guaranteed acceptance to the University and receive all the benefits outlined in the Articulation Agreement.
  • Students are guaranteed junior status;
  • All of their credits transfer, including D grades unless there are restrictions for native students;
  • All lower division general education goals are met.
  1. Memorandum Agreement (2003) – between RichardBlandCollege and Longwood’s requirements for the Liberal Studies Major and Teacher Education Program.

Admission to the College of Business & Economics as a Business Administration Major:

Students who have met the requirements of the Guaranteed Admission Agreement AND who have completed the following six RBC “pre-core” courses with at least a GPA of 2.33:

  • BUS 201 and 202
  • BUS 275
  • ECON 201 and 202
  • CSCI 202

will be deemed to have met the admission criteria to the College of Business & Economics and will be admitted to the University as business administration majors. Students planning to major in Business Administration should plan to take RBC Psychology 201, 202, OR 210 or Sociology 201 or 204 to meet the prerequisite for Management 360.

Admission to the College of Business & Economics as an Economics Major:

Students who have met the requirements of the Guaranteed Admission Agreement AND who have completed the following four RBC “pre-core” courses with at least a GPA of 2.33:

  • ECON 201 and 202
  • BUS 275
  • CSCI 202

will be provisionally admitted to the College of Business & Economics as an economics major for one semester during which they must successfully complete the remaining “pre-core” course (one 300-400 level economics course), and earn at least a 2.33 cumulative and major grade point average. Students planning to minor in Business Administration should plan to take RBC Psychology 201, 202, or 210 or Sociology 201, or 204 to meet the prerequisite for Management 360.

Transfer Agreement

LongwoodUniversity welcomes and values transfer students from RichardBlandCollege who are appropriately prepared to pursue a Baccalaureate Degree. Provisions of this Agreement apply to RichardBlandCollege graduates who have earned the Associate in Arts or Associate in Science Degree.

1.Upon application, LongwoodUniversity will guarantee acceptance of all RichardBlandCollege graduates with an Associate in Arts or Associate in Science Degree who have earned a minimum grade point average of 2.5 at the time of application and graduation. This guarantee assumes that there are no other factors in a student’s academic or personal record that might prevent acceptance. For guaranteed acceptance, applications must be received by March 1 (for fall term) and October 15 (for spring term). Students with grade point averages below 2.5, those who apply after the stated deadlines, or whose GPA becomes 2.5 after the deadline also will be considered for admission but without the guaranteed acceptance.

2.LongwoodUniversity agrees that RichardBlandCollege graduates who are accepted under the provisions of the State Policy on Transfer, excluding reference to the Transfer Module, will be designated as junior-level students, but may be required to complete any unfilled LongwoodUniversity upper-division general education requirements. RichardBlandCollege graduates transferring to LongwoodUniversity can generally expect to graduate in two years, assuming they take normal course loads, have met the specific prerequisites for their majors, make satisfactory progress, and are not enrolled in a tightly structured program (i.e., education).

3.Students who are not native speakers of English should score at least 550 (paper test) or 213 (computer test) on the TOEFL examination and have the minimum grade point average of 2.5 in order to be guaranteed admission.

4. LongwoodUniversity will offer accepted applicants from RichardBlandCollege consideration for available financial aid if they apply for aid by the recommended deadline of March 1 (for the fall) and October 15 (for the spring).

5.Credits earned through examination (Advanced Placement, CLEP, or DANTES), and awarded credit at RichardBlandCollege, will be treated on an equal basis as credits earned at RichardBlandCollege.

6.The faculty and staff of the two institutions will work together to maintain a course-by-course evaluation of all courses listed in the Richard Bland College Catalogue. Likewise, RichardBlandCollege faculty and advising staff will encourage prospective LongwoodUniversity transfer students to meet the specified prerequisites, additional degree requirements, and major requirements when those courses are available at RichardBlandCollege. The Longwood University Transfer Guide and RichardBlandCollege academic advisors will provide the necessary information to RichardBlandCollege students who plan to transfer to LongwoodUniversity concerning degree requirements and programs of study.

7.RichardBlandCollege agrees to support this articulation agreement by indicating the relationship in appropriate literature and through its web site.

8.This Transfer Agreement will remain in effect until terminated by either party upon written notice to the other party of an intention to terminate. Such notice shall be effective only if given 180 days prior to the intended date of termination. Upon termination, the agreement will remain in effect for two additional years to accommodate students currently pursuing the articulated program at RichardBlandCollege.

To facilitate the transfer of students from RichardBlandCollege to LongwoodUniversity’s College of Business & Economics, the following agreement has been established. This agreement is supplementary to the Guaranteed Admission Agreement between LongwoodUniversity and RichardBlandCollege and does not alter or eliminate any of the provisions of that agreement.

The College of Business & Economics has admission criteria in addition to those of LongwoodUniversity. Graduates of RichardBlandCollege who meet the requirements of the Guaranteed Admission Agreement between Longwood and RichardBlandCollegeAND who meet the following criteria will be admitted to the College of Business & Economics upon admission to LongwoodUniversity.

Admission to the College of Business & Economics as a Business Administration Major:

Students who have met the requirements of the Guaranteed Admission Agreement AND who have completed the following six RBC “pre-core” courses with at least a GPA of 2.33:

  • BUS 201 and 202
  • BUS 275 (new Business Statistics course)
  • ECON 201 and 202
  • CSCI 202

will be deemed to have met the admission criteria to the College of Business & Economics and will be admitted to the University as business administration majors. Students who meet all the requirements of the Guaranteed Admission Agreement but have not completed the above-mentioned six courses and/or the major GPA required for admission to the College of Business & Economics will be provisionally admitted to the College of Business & Economics for one semester during which they must successfully complete the remaining “pre-core” course(s) and earn at least a 2.33 cumulative and major grade point average. Transfer students may be admitted as pre-business majors and then complete the “pre-core” business courses at Longwood to earn admission to the business administration program.

Admission to the College of Business & Economics as an Economics Major:

Students who have met the requirements of the Guaranteed Admission Agreement AND who have completed the following four RBC “pre-core” courses with at least a GPA of 2.33:

  • ECON 201 and 202
  • BUS 275 (new Business Statistics course)
  • CSCI 202

will be provisionally admitted to the College of Business & Economics for one semester during which they must successfully complete the remaining “pre-core” course (one 300-400 level economics course), and earn at least a 2.33 cumulative and major grade point average. Students who meet all the requirements of the Guaranteed Admission Agreement but have not completed the above-mentioned four courses and/or the major GPA required for admission to the College of Business & Economics will be provisionally admitted to the College of Business & Economics for one semester during which they must successfully complete the remaining “pre-core” course(s) and earn at least a 2.33 cumulative and major grade point average. Transfer students may be admitted as pre-economics majors and then complete the “pre-core” economics courses at Longwood to earn admission to the economics program.

This agreement will remain in effect for two years after either party notifies the other in writing of their desire to have it terminated.
