2013 MT POREPUNKAH RALLYSPRINT

FURTHER REGULATIONS

Dear Competitor,

The NECC thanks you for your entry, which is hereby accepted, conditional upon completion of your entry form, if necessary.

Service crews who have not signed the entry form disclaimer will need to do so either at scrutiny or at the start before you can receive your route instructions.

  1. THE START

The start, service area and finish area is located at the intersection of Back Porepunkah Road and Roberts Creek Road, between Porepunkah and Bright, close to the junction with Station Street.

To get there, travel from Myrtleford on the Great Alpine Road, then 400m after the 80 speed limit sign entering Porepunkah, turn left along Station Street (Back Porepunkah Road), then go 1.90km to a roundabout. Keep straight on for 0.60km, then turn left into Roberts Creek Road. Turn right into first access road off Roberts Creek Road into the parking area and service area. All Fuel is to be placed in the Refuel Bay at the far end of the service park.

An early “Book In” is planned for Friday, September 6 in the Dinning Room of the Buffalo Motel & Country Retreat at 6774 GREAT ALPINE ROAD POREPUNKAH, VIC 3740phone (03) 5756 2242 from 7pm to 10pm.

All remaining crews must report to HQ Book In at Roberts Creek Road, Porepunkah, between 0630 and 0730 on Saturday,September 7. The following documentation must be presented at Book In:

  1. Vehicle registration papers/permit showing ownership and verifying engine number.
  2. Competitors and all current CAMS Licences and/or club memberships where applicable.
  3. Driver’s Civil driving licence.
  4. CAMS Log Book (if issued).
  5. Scrutiny Slip

Starting order will be as per the attached competitor list, but please note that changes can be included up until close of entries at 2100hrs. on Thursday,August 29, 2013.

Those competitors shown on the entry list as Reserves should contact the Event Secretary, Peter Whitten(0409 236469) on Thursday,August 29, 2013to ascertain whether you will be permitted to start the event.

A Driver’s briefing will be held at 0745 on Saturday,September 7,2013at the start control.

Cars must be lined up in start order along Roberts Creek Road ready to commence recce by 0745.

Cars will depart in convoy for a recce loop of the anti clockwise and clockwise stages at 0800.

Reconnaissance of both stages will be conducted in both directions prior to the start on Saturday morning only.

Cars will start the event at two-minute intervals from 10.15 am.

3.PRE-EVENT RECONNAISSANCE

Competitors observed on Mt Porepunkah Road in the week leading up to the event will be prevented from starting the event or excluded from the results.

4.SCRUTINY

All entrants are to arrange their own pre-event scrutiny with their Regional Scrutineer and present their scrutiny slip at book-in.

Under no condition will scrutiny be available at the start of the event.

Regional competitors who cannot attend the official scrutiny are to arrange regional scrutineeringby an approved Grade 1, 2 or Regional Scrutineer, and advise the Event Secretary of their action in this regard. 5.ODOMETER CHECK (2km)

An 2km odometer check has been set up from the 80Km signs just west of the Roberts Creek Road-Station Street intersection, heading west along Station Street, to a point marked by the organisers.

6.PACE NOTES

Pace notes will not be provided at this year’s event, however competitors are permitted to make their own safety notes during the reconnaissance runs.

7.RECONAISSANCE ON THE DAY

Recce convoys will be preceded by a zero car travelling at a maximum of 60 kmh and which cannot be passed, and followed by a sweep car. If a competitor is travelling too slowly, stops, drives unnecessarily slowly or has a problem and is caught by the sweep car, they may be prevented from completing recce.

After all competitors have completed recce of the 2 stages in an anti-clockwise direction, competing vehicles will turn around and recce the 2 stages in a clockwise direction, again under the control of the zero and sweep cars. There will be no further recce opportunities on the day.

  1. RUNNING DETAILS

Late time for the event is only 15 minutes to allow the event to run to a tight schedule. Once competitors exceed this late time they may only be permitted to resume their running position at a later control after missing stages, with the approval of the Clerk of Course.

  1. SPEED LIMITS

A 40 kmh speed restriction will apply on all unsealed roads on transport sections.

A 60 kmh speed restriction will apply on all sealed roads on transport sections where there is no posted speed limit except for the Great Alpine Road, where a 100 kmh limit will still apply.

Each time competitors return to the service area, they will report to HQ control, and have their road card taken for scoring purposes.

There will be no caution signs utilised on the route, but arrows will be placed 50m before hard to read junctions and hairpin corners.

Pump Caltex and Shell fuel is available in Bright from 7:00am until 7:30pm

In the service area, cars must ONLY be refuelled within the designated refuel zone.

All full and empty containers are to be stored in this area for the duration of the event.

  1. SERVICE CREW INSTRUCTIONS

These will be minimal as all service is to be conducted at the central service area. Service crews associated with competing crews found between a stage finish control and the service area when the competing car could be reasonably expected will be reported to the Stewards. The Clerk of Course will recommend exclusion from the event. Service crews will be permitted to spectate at start and finish controls at the base of Mt. Porepunkah only, and under the direction of the Stage Commander. There is one accessible spectator point in the event.It is on One Mile Creek Road prior to the start of the Special stage. Directions can be obtained at the service area.

  1. FOOD AVAILABILITY

A food stall run by the local Scouts will be located at the service park area at Roberts Creek Road. Food/drinks will be available from 8 am at the service park.

  1. POST EVENT FUNCTION

No formal function has been organised at the finish of the event.

There is plenty of accommodation available in the Porepunkah – Bright area however bookings are heavy during the ski season so it will pay you to book your accommodation early.
