a.Although the risk assessment is on your own property you should assume you have not visited the property before, and report all the risks that you may find at a property prior to completing an onsite survey, please note the risk assessment is always completed first

b.To complete the risk assessment, you need to understand what, in your business/home, might cause harm to yourself and others, and decide whether you are doing enough during the inspection to prevent harm. Once you have identified the risk, you need to decide, and prioritise putting in place, appropriate and sensible control measures.

c.The five basic steps to risk assessment are:

  1. identifying what can harm people in your workplace
  2. identifying who might be harmed and how
  3. evaluating the risks and deciding on the appropriate controls, taking into account the controls you already have in place
  4. recording your risk assessment
  5. reviewing and updating your assessment

d.The date of the assessment should be the date you visited the property to complete your survey
