*** San Antonio Chapter Hosting ASA Traveling Course on Wednesday, March 9th ***
The San Antonio Chapter of the American Statistical Association and the ASA Council of Chapters will sponsor a traveling course in San Antonio on Wednesday, March 9, 2005. The course is titled "Applied Nonlinear Statistical Methods"and is taught by Dr. Timothy E. O'Brien. Our chapter was awarded the course along with the San Diego Chapter and the Alabama Chapter. The location of the course will be the UTHSC at Houston School of Public Health, San Antonio Regional Campus on Data Point Drive. Cost is $50 ($25 for students) and can be paid at the door.Pre-registration is required so that we can have the correct number of handout materials for each student and so that we can order enough box lunches. *** Last Call for Science Fair Judges ***
It's time again to volunteer to be a special judge at the Alamo Regional Science and Engineering Fair. The category is "The Best Use of Statistics in a Science Project" which is awarded by the San Antonio Chapter of the American Statistical Association. Being a member of the Association is not a requirement. The only requirement is a desire to help our budding young scientists hone their academic and research skills. No experience as a judge is necessary. The fair is scheduled for the 6, 7, and 8th of March which means we will be judging high school projects beginning around 9 am on Monday, March 7. We will be finished no later than 12 noon. A hot catered meal will be provided. The location is the Municipal Auditorium in downtown San Antonio.
