Overview:

Science Student Ambassadors play a key role in the promotion of the Faculty of Science programs and activities to both future and current students. They represent the Faculty at a variety of events including Open Day, information evenings and school visits. They also represent the faculty through social media management and marketing activities.

What are the benefits of being a Science Student Ambassador?

The Science Student Ambassadors program creates opportunities for Science students to develop professional and personal skills; to network with fellow students and to actively engage as a member of the Faculty of Science community.

You will receive training in a range of communications-based areas and will gain a range of transportable skills that will enhance your resume. Participation in the program is an opportunity to develop workplace-relevant skills and tangibly demonstrate to future employers your commitment to professional and personal development.

To complete the program, you must:

  • Volunteer for a minimum of 15 hours during the year
  • Attend all compulsory training events
  • Be present at Monash Clayton for the duration of the academic year
  • Attend Open Day as a Science Student Ambassador

Key responsibilities:

Events

Science Student Ambassadors assist at a range of events, including Open Day, information evenings, careers events and public lectures.

School Visits

Throughout the year, Science Student Ambassadors will be called upon to assist at student recruitment events including expos, internal campus visits and external school visit.

Provide a student perspective

Science Student Ambassadors are asked to contribute their ideas and thoughts on a range of materials including websites, posters, course guides and other materials.

Social Media (Social Scout)

Science Student Ambassadors take on the role of “Social Scout” and run the Faculty’s Facebook and Instagram accounts from their perspective for a period of one week during their tenure as a Science Student Ambassador

Selection will be based on the following:

  • Past contribution to, and involvement in, university/community activities;
  • Responses to selection questions in the application form; and
  • Interview (if required) for short-listed applicants only
  • Year level two and above, or completion of a minimum of 26 credit points

Eligibility:

Students who are enrolled inClayton basedScience single or double degree courses and who have attended at least one year at Monash University are eligible to apply. You must be available to participate in the program for the full duration of the academic year.
