PART 1 - GENERAL

A.  Aluminum Diamond Tread Plate: ASTM B632-02, 1/4 inch 6061-T6 aluminum with mill finish.

1.3  SUBMITTALS

A.  Shop Drawings: Show profiles, hardware, accessories, location and dimensions.

B.  Product Data: Manufacturer’s technical data for each type of floor door, including setting drawings, templates, finish requirements, and details of anchorage devices.

C.  Samples: Manufacturer to provide upon request, size to represent material adequately.

D.  Manufacturer's Installation Instructions: Indicate installation requirements and rough-in dimensions.

1.4  Quality Assurance

A.  Qualifications:

1.  Manufacturer/Installer: Company specializing in manufacturing and installation of components specified in this Section with minimum of 5 years documented experience.

B.  Regulatory Requirements:

1.  International Building Code for fire resistance rated construction

2.  IBC Section 712 for Floor Fire Doors- tested in accordance with NFPA 288 and labeled by approved agency; Warnock Hersey or Underwriters Laboratory.

1.5  DELIVERY, STORAGE, and HANDLING

A.  Deliver materials to Project site ready use.

B.  Exercise proper care in handling of Work so as not to disrupt finished surfaces.

C.  Store materials under cover in a dry and clean location off the ground.

1.6  WARRANTY

A.  Provide manufacturer's standard warranty. All floor doors shall be free from manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship for a period of five (5) years from the date of shipment. Should a product fail to function in normal use within this period, manufacturer shall furnish a new part at no charge. Special locks, finishes, and other special equipment (if applicable) shall be warranted by the manufacturer of those products.

2.2  ALUMINUM FLOOR DOORS

A.  C Channel and Angle Frame Aluminum Floor Door: Model BFDN

1.  Clear Unobstructed Opening Size: <Insert dimensions>.

2.  Frame: Mill finish aluminum, C channel and angle profile.

3.  Door: [Single] [Double] leaf; 1/4-inch-thick (6.4-mm-thick), diamond-pattern mill-finish aluminum plate.

4.  Loading Capacity: [300-lbf/sq. ft. (14.4-kN/sq.m) pedestrian live load and a maximum deflection of L/160; Model BFDNPA] [AASHTOH20 concentrated wheel load, without impact and a maximum deflection of L/160; Model BFDNHA].

  4. Latch: Stainless-steel slam latch, with inside lever handle and outside removable 5/16 inch (7.9 mm) square L handle.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1  EXAMINATION

A.  Verify that preparation and affected dimensions are acceptable.

B.  Verify tolerances and correct improper conditions.

3.2  PREPARATION

A.  Advise installers of details relating to floor hatch installation, including rough opening dimensions, locations of supports, and anchoring methods.

3.3  INSTALLATION

A.  Follow manufacturer’s instructions for installing floor doors and hatches.

B.  Install frames plumb and level in opening, in proper alignment with floor surface for flush installation. Secure rigidly in place.

C.  Position units to provide convenient access to concealed Work requiring access.

3.4  CLEAN AND ADJUST

A.  Clean adjacent surfaces and remove unused product and debris from site.

B.  Adjust doors for smooth operation.
