2013 Bridgeport Invitational Soccer Tournament

7 v 7 Rules

1.  Players shall be registered on only one team per age group.

2.  Age brackets and groupings will be determined by USYSA ages as of August 1.

Field of Play

3.  Surface: Fieldturf

4.  Outdoor balls will be used:

U-10 and U12: Size 4.

U13 and above will use Size 5.

Home teams shall supply game balls for all matches.

5.  A goal area will be marked not more than ten yards from the goal line.

Players

6.  Number of players on the pitch will be seven (7) which includes the goalkeeper.

7.  Substitutions (including the goalkeeper) will be made “on the fly” from midfield.

8.  All players are required to wear shin-guards. No jewelry may be worn.

Game Rules (as per the Laws of the Game unless stated)

9.  Games will consist of one 25 minute period.

10.  The Home team shall start the game with a kick-off. The team listed first on the schedule is considered the Home team.

11.  No off-sides.

12. All free kicks shall be indirect, according to FIFA, with the opponents four yards away (or on the goal line for kicks less than four yards from the goal line).

13. All restarts for balls crossing the touch lines shall be indirect free kicks. (No throw-ins).

14. A player who receives a yellow card should be substituted for and will not be allowed to reenter the game for 5 minutes. For a second yellow card the [same] player shall receive a red card and the team will play short for the balance of the game. This player shall be suspended for the next game.

15. If a player is ejected for violent conduct, he/she shall be banned for the rest of the game and the team shall play with one less player on the field for the balance of the game. This player shall be banned from playing in the remaining matches of this tournament.

16. Goal kicks must touch a player or the field before crossing the center line. The ball must cross over the goal area line before being played.

17. Goalkeepers must roll or throw (no punting or drop kicks). The ball must touch a player or the field before crossing the center line

All other rules concerning the goalkeeper will be as per the [FIFA] Laws of the Game.

18.  Slide tackling is prohibited.

19.  All players to shake hands after the final whistle.

20.  The referee’s decision shall be final. No appeals.


Tournament Rules

21.  Except in the case of any championship/play-off elimination game, the score shall stand at the end of the game. 3 points shall be awarded for a win, 1 point for a tie, and 0 points for a loss.

22.  The position of teams in their respective brackets shall be determined by the total number of points earned. Should teams be tied on points the following tie breakers will be used in the order presented:

1.  Head to Head

2.  Goal Differential (max 5 per game)

3.  Total Goals Allowed

4.  Total Goals Scored (max 8 per game)

5.  Coin Toss

22. Should any playoff or championship match end in a tie a 5 minute “Golden Goal” period shall be played. First team to score wins. A coin toss at start of OT will be held to determine who shall kick-off. The coin toss shall be called by the visitors. Kick-offs will then alternate for any remaining overtime periods. If the score is still tied after the first overtime, play shall resume with each team fielding six players and no goal keeper. Play will continue with a 3 minute “Golden Goal” period until a goal is scored. If the game is still tied teams will be reduced by another player and play a 3 minute “Golden Goal” period, continuing to reduce by 1 player until a winner is determined. Intentionally handling the ball to prevent a goal in any overtime shall be a Red Card, with that team playing short for the remainder of the match, and that player being suspended for the remainder of the tournament.

*Due to the nature of the tournament teams will not be permitted to warm-up on the sidelines of the playing field. All teams must be ready to take the field 15 minutes prior to the start of their scheduled game in the case that the schedule runs ahead.
