Minutes

  • Minutes from September 2016 were presented
  • Add motion to minutes& approved

Reports

  • Staff reports were presented and questions were addressed
  • Steve gave report on Region IV Workshop
  • Chris Moore’s presentation was not well received. All states agreed that direct registration to USYA with fees to be paid by parents was not in the best interest for the clubs and state associations.

Old Business

  • Policy Review Committee Reports
  • 4 of the 5 Committees have presented their reviews
  • Will be on the Agenda for the November Board Meeting
  • AGM Update – In the Operations Directors Report
  • Budget Report – Audit review will be on October 31. Will be presented at the December board meeting
  • President’s Forum will be on October 29, 2016
  • The cost of the insurance will be the topic of discussion.
  • Recommended to send the email blast to Presidents, DOC, Executive Directors and the District Directors.
  • Recreation Committee update by Roger Thomas. It is still a work in progress. Requested to have ready by November board meeting.
  • Feedback from Workshop – no questions
  • Referee and ORC Update – Pat Duffy will end his term of ORC.
  • There is money in the budget of the USYS to hire someone to help the SYRA’s in their selection of Referees to Cup Tournament.
  • Each state will have an audit of the referee association.

New Business

  • Member Fee increase 2017/18 – USYS is planning some type of increase of their dues. Our member fee increase will be presented at the AGM
  • Parent Conduct/Game Management– Is there in type of parent education we could send out. We have had several incidents of poor parent behavior on the sidelines. Stated that is hard to educate parents without the club’s support. We should make resources available to the clubs and work with them. Stated coaches should be made accountable for their parent’s behavior. (Positive coaching alliance)
  • Positions that will be voted on at the AGM are:
  • Tualatin Hills District Director - Steve Baker has termed out
  • President - Steve Meckel is running
  • Central/Eastern District Director - Ryan Shore will not be running
  • Director at large - Vickie Pounds – Vicki will be running
  • Central Valley District Director - Dave Galas
