ELECTRONIC ENGINEER

Summary

The Electrical / Electronic Engineer position is responsible for the design, development, testing and certification of company electrical / electronic component, devices and systems. Coordinates with company personnel, customers, and regulatory authorities to ensure product designs comply with regulations, specifications, and customer requirements. Daily tasks involve providing support in the following areas:

  • Product development
  • Design documentation
  • Evaluate, test, troubleshoot, and report product designs
  • Tracks schedules on assigned programs
  • Manufacturing support
  • Supplier development assistance.
  • Other tasks as assigned

  1. Contribute to design efforts, ongoing product development, and improvements.
  2. Focuses on engineering and design for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency (Concurrent Engineering). Balances quality, productivity, cost, safety and continuous improvement. Support continuous improvement events and initiatives, using lean six sigma manufacturing concepts, to remove waste and variation from production processes.
  3. Develops systems layouts, subassembly configurations and packaging criteria.
  4. Prepares wiring diagrams and lists.
  5. Participates in new business and sales activities, new process and methods research.
  6. Supports obsolescence mitigation, and specifies alternate parts for existing products and systems
  7. Product documentation; create, assist, and/or review.
  8. Digital / analog circuit design.
  9. Software / firmware.
  10. Component and assembly drawings.
  11. Creates technical proposals, technical materials, procurement specifications and electrical analyses.
  12. Reviews customer requirements including customer specifications, statements of work, and interface drawings in order to ensure compliance with contract.
  13. Reviews and approves drawings.
  14. Product specifications.
  15. Test plans and reports.
  16. Instruction manuals.
  17. Coordinates the Manufacturing launch of new products/new designs with manufacturing and procurement.
  18. Should be familiar or knowledge of the following:
  19. Aircraft electrical systems and aircraft structures. Capabilities should include system electrical interface, designs using stamped/formed metal parts and/or plastic injected molded parts.
  20. System safety assessment.
  21. Functional hazard assessment.
  22. Fault tree assessment.
  23. Failure modes and effects analysis.
  24. Design product packaging, installation, component interconnect / cable design, and aircraft integration.
  25. Lead and/or assist in product design reviews, budget review, and presentations.
  26. Proficient in the use of AutoCAD 2009, SolidWorks 2009, and ANSI Y14.5 Drafting Standards would be beneficial.
  27. Provide guidance toward establishing relationships with potential suppliers.
  28. Proficient computer skills and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook)

Work Environment

This job operates in anoffice and manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to moving mechanical parts and equipment

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Position may require person to sit at a desk for up to 8 hours, constantly performing repetitive motions to use a personal computer and other office equipment, as well as walking around an office and industrial environments on a frequent basis. Industrial environments are subject to changes in noise, temperature, etc. Position is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee may lift and/or move up to 25pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the position may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Work hours are Monday through Friday and start times range between 7:00 to 8:00 but are determined by your department manager. Overtime will be required as needed.

Travel

Domestic and international travel is expected for this position. Ability to perform physical activities related to various modes of travel of 10-30%.

Required Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Engineering from an accredited university or college.
  2. Minimum of fiveyears of related work experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. MSin Electronic Engineering.
  2. Five plus years of related work experience.
