Regenerative ColoTherapy

Regenerative Medicine Solutions (RMS), a global provider of stem cell treatments for degenerative diseases, is now offeringRegenerative ColoTherapy(RCT), a proprietary stem cell treatment for people suffering with celiac and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis (UC) are two of the most notable conditions that fall under the IBD umbrella, affecting millions of people across the United States and the world.

It is estimated that there are 1.4 million cases of Crohn’s and colitis in the United States, which roughly translates to the population size of Philadelphia. Although Crohn’s, colitis, and celiac disease are very different conditions, affecting different areas of the intestines, treatment options are similar and mainly consist of diet modification, anti-inflammatories, and immunosuppressants.

In severe cases, sufferers use the restroom over 20 times a day and may require surgery to remove part of their intestine or colon. As you can imagine, symptoms of these disorders take a heavy toll on sufferer’s quality of life.Andrew, a 26-year-old RMS patient that suffers from ulcerative colitis underwent the Regenerative ColoTherapy.

“For three years, I suffered from diarrhea, bleeding, painful stomach cramping, and being completely drained of energy,” Andrew said. “90 days following the RCT procedure, I noticed considerable improvements in my symptoms. My bowel movements went from upwards of 20 times a day to less than five. This procedure was invaluable and in my opinion the best option for treating this disease.”

As stem cells have the ability to differentiate into many different types of tissues and have been found to be immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory in nature, their intrinsic healing capacity is highly beneficial for sufferers of celiac disease and IBD. RMS has harnessed the natural properties of stem cells in the form of Regenerative ColoTherapy, a uniquestem cell treatmentthat utilizes stem cells from a patient’s own body for the regeneration and repair of damaged tissues in the intestines and colon.

Stem cell treatments for irritable bowel disease (IBD) and celiac disease have demonstrated tremendous success in clinical settings and are currently being administered by Regenerative Medicine Solutions. This innovative treatment option is helping people with bowel conditions find relief, thereby improving their quality of life. The intrinsic healing properties of stem cells work within the patient’s body to heal his or her gut and improve symptoms. It has only been in the last ten years that stem cell therapies have been discovered to be a viable treatment option for IBD, and even today, their incredible potential for these conditions is largely unknown.

There are two primary inflammatory bowel diseases:

·  Crohn’s disease

·  Ulcerative colitis

These diseases are associated with chronic inflammation of the lining within the intestines. Ulcerative colitis involves all or parts of the colon and in some cases, the distal portion of the small intestine. Crohn’s disease involves any part of the gastrointestinal tract from the mouth to the rectum/anus. Why Choose Regenerative ColoTherapy for IBD and Celiac Disease?

Although Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and celiac disease are all very different disorders, the conventional treatment options for these conditions are similar. Anti-inflammatory drugs such as corticosteroids are often prescribed to reduce inflammation along the GI tract and may result in a range of serious side effects, including high blood pressure, diabetes, and glaucoma. Common treatments for both Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis include prescription and immune suppressant drugs.

Because current conventional treatments typically don’t effectively treat advanced IBDs and celiac, Regenerative Medicine Solutions (RMS) has developed Regenerative ColoTherapy (RCT), a unique and proprietary stem cell treatment protocol to provide patients another option. Regenerative ColoTherapy utilizes adult autologous stem cells, which simply means they are extracted from the patient’s own body, for the repair and regeneration of the GI tract. Because the stem cells used are from the patient’s own body, the likelihood of rejection is virtually non-existent and this procedure is considered completely safe when performed in proper clinical settings.

Stem cells have the ability to self-renew indefinitely, meaning they can divide many times and specialize in the repair of damaged organ(s) while still sustaining the original undifferentiated cell. The two forms of stem cells harvested during the procedure include autologous hematopoietic stem cells, which are those found in the peripheral blood, and autologous human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs), which are found in adipose (fat) tissue.

Regenerative Medicine Solutions does not use any type of fetal or embryonic stem cells in any procedure.

Prior to the procedure, the patient will undergo a simple dietary detox plan to help prepare the digestive tract for healing. The detox involves the complete removal of gluten, dairy, soy, and peanuts from the diet for 30 days. At the beginning of the detox, the patient will also undergo food allergy testing, which involves a simple blood test. After he or she has completed the 30 days of detox, he or she can begin reintroducing certain foods back into his or her diet, avoiding those to which an allergy has been found. This will create an ideal environment for the stem cells as they cue regenerative processes in the GI tract. Your Regenerative Medicine Solution’s physician will go over the diet and food and allergy testing in detail with you at your consultation.

Following the food and allergy testing, the RCT procedure is performed. During the procedure, stem cells are extracted from the patient’s peripheral blood through the use of an IV and adipose tissue (body fat) using mini-liposuction. Adipose tissue is a specialized type of loose connective tissue that contains adipocytes, or fat cells in addition to various other types of cells, including mesenchymal stem cells. The type of stem cells taken from the blood are known as a hematopoietic stem cells and those extracted from the fat tissue are known as a mesenchymal stem cells. When utilized together, these two types of stem cells have been known to produce anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects in the gastrointestinal tract, ultimately reducing the symptoms of IBD and celiac disease. In special cases, mesenchymal stem cells may be extracted from a patient’s bone marrow instead of his or her adipose tissue. Keep reading for a step by step guide of the treatment process.

Regenerative Medicine Solutions’ Regenerative ColoTherapy stem cell procedure takes place in a clinical outpatient setting over the course of three days. Once a patient has been approved as a candidate for treatment, and all the necessary blood work and paperwork is completed, the treatment process begins. Please note that prior to treatment; the patient may be required to undergo an updated colonoscopy and food allergy testing. Regenerative Medicine Solutions’ staff will work with you and your gastroenterologist to acquire any previous testing results that may be needed.

After all necessary paperwork and testing have been completed; the patient will be given natural growth factors to stimulate stem cell production within his or her body. The hematopoietic stem cells will be collected first through the use of an IV. This is a relatively brief process, with a slight chance of minor discomfort from the insertion of the IV. Once the hematopoietic stem cells have been collected, they are taken to the lab where they are washed and isolated, after which they are immediately returned to the patient’s body in another IV.

Next, the patient will undergo the adipose treatment. After the patient has been administered growth factors, he or she will undergo a minimally invasive mini liposuction procedure to collect the adult mesenchymal stem cells found in his or her adipose tissue. Many patients are surprised at the ease of extraction of the stem cells from their fat tissue. Just as in the venous (blood-derived) procedure, the mesenchymal stem cells are extracted, washed, and immediately re-administered into the patient’s body through the use of an IV. Once the stem cells are back in a patient’s blood stream, they are naturally programmed to find the source of inflammation or damage within the body and begin regenerative processes.

On his or her final day, the patient’s physician will check his or her extraction sites to ensure he or she is healing normally. During this time, the physician will answer any questions the patient might have about the procedure and prepare him or her for home care.

A representative from Regenerative Medicine Solutions will check in with the patient 2 weeks, 6 weeks, and 3 months following his or her treatment. Please remember that results are not immediate. Because the body is undergoing an accelerated healing process, patients typically see the full results after approximately 3 months.
