Catholicism

Catholicism can be defined as the whole body of Christians because the definition of it can be stretched by different understandings of what it means to be Christian.

Martin Luther

This man led the great religious revolt in sixteenth century Germany. I feel that there was too much information in the article to be useful to the casual reader or to be summarized in one paragraph. Although I do trust its validity, I would not use it because it is not concise.

Original Sin

It is the believed to be the reason why a Christian cannot fully understand the theory of evolution. The Original Sin is the sin that Adam and Eve committed by eating forbidden fruit. I trust the validity of this source.

Protestant Reformation

Protestant Reformation is religious and political development from the 16th century. It was lead by Martin Luther who said that the Roman Catholic church was corrupt. I trust this source.

John Calvin

John Calvin was born in Noyon, France. He was a protestant theologian in the Protestant Reformation and developed a form of religion called Calvinism. I trust this source.

Elect

Those selected by divine will for salvation. I trust this source because it was published by Merriam-Webster.

Predestination

It is the doctrine that God chooses who is saved. He makes this choice independent of any quality or condition of man.

Puritan Movement

This was the movement of Puritans where they sought out to purify Christianity.

Puritans

The Puritans were Protestants who wanted a simpler Church doctrine that was more traditional and pure. I trust this source.

Plymouth Colony

New Plymouth, or Plymouth Colony was founded by a group of Puritans and surveyed and named by Captain Awesome John Smith.

Massachusetts Bay Colony

This was an English settlement on eastern North America in the 1600s. Many of the settlers were Puritans, and they celebrated their first Thanksgiving Day in July of 1629.

Theocracy

A Theocracy is a form of government where the leader and officers are chosen by divine will. I trust this source.

Puritan Ethic appears to be the moral duty or guideline promoting hard work and strict morals.

Roger Williams

This man promoted religious tolerance and separation of church and state. He believed that Native Americans should be treated equally and started the colony of Rhode Island where he could share his beliefs. I trust this source.

Anne Hutchinson

Anne Hutchinson was possibly the first American feminist and a religious dissenter of Puritan society.

Half-Way Covenant

The Half-Way Covenant was created for people of the English colonies so they could have partial church memberships for children and grandchildren of church members. I trust this source.

Salem Witch Trials

Nineteen men and women who were convicted of witchcraft were hanged at Gallows Hill from June to September of 1692. Hundreds faced accusations of witchcraft and dozens of others were put in jail for months.
