Artistic Bike Rack Can Come Together with Your Support

Reynolds senior Sophie Hollis decided she wanted to give back to Reynolds after reflecting on what she considers a most positive and memorable four years here.

In an effort to give back, Sophie has teamed up with local artist Zach Lail to design, create and install an artistic bike rack atthe school. Lail is theartist who created the bike racks in front of Camino Bakery, a/perture cinema and the Arts-Based School. Sophie is hopeful other members of the Class of 2015 and Reynolds community will support this creative project!

The primary purpose of the project is to get a functional piece of art for our campus that will both promote the healthy habit of biking to school and serve to beautify the school. Sophie also thinks it is a great example of the way that the Arts Magnet Program promotes the integration of arts, education and dedication to community service.

The project was approved by Mr. Olsen and more recently by Mr. Mills. Sophie and the Reynolds Arts Service Club are working very hard to make this project a reality in the coming month. The biggest obstacle left to tackle is the funding required to build and install the bike rack. The entire project costs $4,000. Sophie and all involved are trying to raise the money through a Go Fund Me account, and hopes that the Reynolds community can get excited about suporting this project!

A donation to this fund would be a great way to celebrate the Class of 2015 and all in the RJR community who make our school a great place to learn and grow. Thelink to the Go Fund Me account is

Parents: A Message from Student Services about Class Day
Class Day is a great opportunity to celebrate RJR’s seniors and all their accomplishments. We are creating a video which will show a picture of each graduate who has notified us of a verifiable scholarship. A listing of all the scholarships that a student has earned will be beside his/her picture. However, please note that students must complete a form to confirm their awards. If students did not complete forms in English or at lunch, they can see Mrs. Holbrook for a copy or download the form and receive more information at
Make sure your senior follows through by turning in a copy of any letter that awards him/her a scholarship (even if he/she is not going to that school). These verification letters are due to Mrs. Holbrook in Student Services by Friday, May 15th at 4 p.m. at the latest.
Some surprise scholarships will be announced and presented at Class Day. However, most scholarships will be recognized via the video. If the college or organization that is awarding your son or daughter a scholarship wishes to come and present the award at the Class Day assembly, please have them contact Mrs. Nicole Beale at or Mr. Terry Hicks at . If a presenter does not come to Class Day, we will recognize your student on the video that runs during the program.

Please make sure your student turns in scholarship documentation so we can recognize him/her in the Class Day video for his/her awards. We hope senior parents can join us as we celebrate the Class of 2015!

REMEMBER:

1)Students/Parents must notify Student Services of any scholarships awarded and MUST submit documentation verifying the awards to our office by May 15th.

2)Scholarship/award presenters MUST contact Mrs. Beale or Mr. Hicks to present at the Class Day assembly.
