The real value of surveys and wider metrics can be found in using them as tools to guide and inform ways to enhance practice within institutions. The theme of this year’s HEA Surveys Conference is linking the ways in which insight from surveys and metrics can be used for enhancement and to drive excellence within institutions. We are calling for contributions which demonstrate the value and potential of surveys and wider metricswithin higher education.

Preparing to compile your submission

We welcome papers from individuals with an interest in surveys and metrics in higher education. Whilst we are interested in viewing potential contributions relating to surveys for enhancement generally, the main conference themes are:

  • Enhancing excellence: Exploring innovative practice in using insight from surveys to enhance and demonstrate excellence in higher education.
  • Transforming teaching: How can we use insight from surveys and metrics to inform our own practice and help us measure teaching quality?
  • Measuring the student experience: How can insight from surveys be used to understand and enhance the overall student experience?
  • Student outcomes: How can surveys contribute to discussions surrounding learning gain and student outcomes?

Options for contributions are:

  1. Half hour presentations: (20 minutes for presentation, 10 minutes for Q&A) themed by stream

Presentations should focus on a particular topic related to the streams of the conference. They may be focused upon practice, strategy, theory or be a discussion piece. Presenters should allow ten minutes after their paper for further questions and discussion.

  1. Half hour workshops: Interactive sessions, for half an hour.

Workshops enable you to run an interactive session with delegates exploring a topic relating to the conference theme.
