Chairman's address:
The matter of graffiti, it's removal and cleaning continues to be an important concern.
Waverley Council is proposing to remove graffiti on State & Federal government buildings & bill the relevant departments.
A start has been made on the Telstra building on the corner of Birrell Street & Bronte Road.
Waverley Police Commander Rogerson is convening a meeting of interested people to address the problem in September.
The matter of the Bondi Junction LEP, Waverley Council's acceptance of the draft plan, and the effects of these changes, especially as they related to building heights & increased traffic were discussed, at length & in detail.
Councillor Sloan was able to answer some questions. What is apparent is that the State government is determined to increase patronage of the Eastern Suburbs Rail to accommodate an additional 4000+ workers in the Waverley area.
Address by Lorna Bussell, Bondi Junction Place Manager:
Various issues were mentioned including, the cleaning team, the business awards, Mall entertainment and events which are the children's day on September 19, October youth art project, fashion shows, Christmas in the Mall, seniors & food week.
Address by Councillor Kerryn Sloan:
Councillor Sloan spoke on various matters including the establishment of non-smoking areas, the building at 101-107 Oxford Street, the new fish sculpture in October, the retention of Victorian facades within new structures with sustainable buildings to be integrated. She will look into the Christmas decorations and entertainment issues.
Address by Councillor Rose Jackson:
Councillor Jackson's main address concerned the establishment of 40km speed zones limits within the Municipality, traffic matters in general, and a proposal to ban smoking in all outdoor areas in Bondi Junction.
Address by Bruce Morrow:
Bruce spoke on the impact the BJ Mall markets have on the surrounding businesses and alternatives in inclement weather, the Centennial Parklands Trust (of which he is a committee member) and an invitation for interested people to contact him.
Of special concern to residents, is the "goat-track like conditions" of the path along Oxford Street, between York and Lang Roads.
