The American Pharmaceutical Association Academy of Students of Pharmacy (APhA-ASP) Chapter at the University of ______ is pleased to announce that we are conduction an APhA-ASP Legislative Day event which will occur DATE. We cordially invite you to this event. The screenings (and immunizations)will be provided from Start time-end time at ______Pharmacyor area of capitol located at address #1 and address #2. This venue is a unique opportunity to establish dialogue between you and your constituency made up of pharmacy students, pharmacists and your community.
As you are aware, changes in healthcare have created many gaps for the public. Amongst many is a chasm in access to care; in this the pharmacy provides an avenue for the most immediate admittance to needed care. The neighborhood pharmacy in recent years has developed its skills to allow for more accessible and therefore efficient care to the public. Amongst these skills are Immunization Certification, Blood Pressure Screening, Diabetes Screening and Management, Cholesterol Screening, and Osteoporosis Screening. Prevention is invaluable, and, as such, pharmacists are taking an active role in screening for individual health problems before they become societal health and financial disasters.
APhA-ASP is the student chapter of the much larger American Pharmaceutical Association (APhA). Thus our association represents a diverse group of pharmacists and future pharmacists devoted to the advancement of the pharmacy profession. APhA-ASP invites you and the public to participate in an array of health screenings (and flu immunization) in an effort to strengthen the relationship that exists between the pharmacy profession, the public it serves, and the local government. This arena will allow the pharmacy community to become better educated about the legislative process and the importance of grassroots development, while simultaneously exposing you to the importance of pharmacy and the roles that they play in healthcare. Together we have the chance to show the talents that both sides have to offer the community.
