IMPACT Women’s Recovery Co-ordinators: Complex Needs Service

This exciting new role is an opportunity to be part of an innovative partnership approach between Nelson Trust and Turning Point. Turning Point and Nelson Trust have partnered to provide community support to Women experiencing substance misuse who have additional complex needs. The post holder will work within the IMPACT service and will be co-located across Nelson Trust and Turning point sites.
Job Purpose / To assist in the delivery of Turning Point IMPACT Substance Misuse strategy; providing high quality, innovative treatment and interventions. In addition as Women’s Recovery Co-ordinator you will deliver holistic, gender responsive support, advice and intervention to ensure the needs of women who are experiencing multiple and complex disadvantages are met.
Main Responsibilities/ Duties /
  • To manage an active caseload providing regular key working and 1:1 solution-focused support with practical issues such as finances/housing/employment.
  • To undertake comprehensive assessment of client need across 9 domains to include physiological, health, psychological and social needs
  • Developing strength-based recovery plans with individuals that are; comprehensive, person-centred and individualised based on a clear assessment of that individual’s needs and circumstances.
  • Undertake and update accurate, person-centred; individualised risk assessments and risk management planning with colleagues and partner agencies as appropriate. With regular review (minimum 12 week intervals)
  • Work within Turning Point/ Nelson Trust Policy and Procedure’s to Co-ordinate substance misuse treatment and interventions to meet the full needs of the individual, ensuring prescribing reviews are booked and managed.
  • Review and monitor the individual’s recovery through regular recovery plan reviews that ensure continued relevance of interventions.
  • Provide information; advice and intervention to mothers and expectant mothers in relation to substance misuse and its impact on the family and children including unborn children.
  • Provide person-centred care that reflects the rights, preferences and choices of individuals in an environment that is safe, healthy and maintains the individual’s dignity and well-being.
  • Provide an environment that is free from abuse or neglect, observing agreed safeguarding practices; Promote and safeguard the welfare of children, and vulnerable women who access the service.
  • Disseminate substance misuse and parenting information whilst offering bespoke interventions in both group and one to one settings.
  • To work in collaboration with referring organisations including Voluntary, Statutory and Criminal Justice agencies. Building effective working relationships to ensure effective multi-agency working.
  • To identify outside agencies and support, and support clients to access appropriate agencies in relation to care plan or presenting need.
  • To attend multi-agency meetings where appropriate and in accordance with care/safety plan needs, additionally to act as an advocate for the client within prescribed protocols.
  • Support colleagues, volunteers, peer mentors as appropriate, ensuring care standards are maintained and clients receive the most appropriate care.
  • To work from satellite bases across the county both within Nelson Trust and Turning Point sites when necessary.
  • To be aware of, and work to Nelson Trust and Turning Point policies and procedures, working to best practice in relation to all treatment and interventions.
  • Carry out day to day tasks in accordance with Turning Point/ Nelson Trust stated policies, procedures and regulations to assist the service achieve its compliance obligations.
  • Work within Nelson Trust / Turning Point Policies and Procedures; Ensuring all data and information relating to clients is accurate and shared in the appropriate way with key stakeholders.
  • Input outcomes and other information into corporate systems in accordance with Nelson Trust/ Turning Point stated policies and procedures

General /
  • To participate in regular line management and supervision and as provided.

  • Contribute to growth and business development plans bybeing an advocate for the IMPACT service to clients, their families, stakeholders and other external contacts and partners through delivering on commitments and presenting TP and NT in a positive image.

Probationary period:
All posts within The Nelson Trust are subject to a six month probationary period with a mid-point review at 3 months.

Person Specification / Requirements / Essential / Desirable
Evidence of continuous professional development / ✓
Relevant OCN/NVQ/city and Guilds level 3 or equivalent or willing to achieve this within 12 months / ✓
Commitment to extending professional competence, including ability to reflect on practice / ✓
At least 2 years’ demonstrable experience of working with women with multiple complex needs (MCN) in either a health / justice / social care/ family or other specialist setting / ✓
Demonstrable experience of caseload management of both high volumes and complex nature / ✓
In depth knowledge of multiple complex needs facing vulnerable women which contributes to their substance misuse; including domestic abuse, mental health, accommodation, finances, children and families and education/ training needs / ✓
In-depth Knowledge and understanding of barriers women face when accessing mainstream services. Successful track record of engaging individuals considered ‘difficult to reach’ / ✓
Excellent organisational and time management skills; ability to prioritise and manage a caseload and work under pressure / ✓
Experience of developing and maintaining partnerships with local organisations and experience of working with partner agencies / ✓
