Important scholarship practices for students and parents:
- Search scholarship and financial aid opportunities available from the colleges and universities where you plan to apply-know deadlines and application procedures.
- Research scholarship opportunities at a national database like wwwfastweb.com to find broad and some unique scholarship opportunities.
- Search scholarship opportunities available through the Winston-Salem Foundation at the application becomes available on January 1, 2015.
- Join the Mount Tabor PTSA-9 seniors who are PTSA members will win academic, arts and athletic scholarships-applications will be available after January 1, 2015.
- Many state universities, like Clemson University, the University of South Carolina, the University of Alabama and The Ohio State University, have scholarship programs for out-of-state students with specific GPA and test score credentials-look closely at schools that interest you.
PAYING FOR COLLEGE
The WSFCS system will host a Scholarship/Financial Aid Night for all senior families, students and parents. Understanding all elements of financial aid early in the senior year will help families navigate through the application process. The date is October 29th at 6:30 pm. The program will be held at the Education Building on Bethania Station Road.

The Mount Tabor Guidance/Counseling Department will host a Financial Aid Information Night on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 6:30 in the Media Center. David Gelinas, Director of Financial Aid at Davidson College, will present an overview of the financial aid process.

Criteria:Seniors who plan to enroll in accredited nursing programs; suggested that applicants be ranked in the top 25% of class and actively involved in nursing-related activities

THE NATIONAL MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS SOCIETY’S SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Criteria:Provides scholarships to anyone with multiple sclerosis, or anyone who is the child of some with multiple sclerosis, who will be attending an accredited postsecondary school for the first time.
Awards:Range from $1,000 to $3,000, although a limited number may exceed this amount

Criteria:High school seniors based on SCHOLARSHIP (50%), LEADERSHIP (40%), FINANCIAL NEED and QUALITY OF APPLICATION (10%); successful applicants are usually at or near the top 5% of the class and have SAT scores exceeding 1200 (CR & M) or similar ACT
Awards:Local Regional, State, and National scholarships (500 four-year awards), ranging from $1,000 to $15,000 per year-six local scholarships (3 male and 3 female) will be awarded; top scholarship at national level is $50,000
